Grunt_Style Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 dont forget that Oc ability varies from CPU to CPu evin if theyre the same type. ive heard of people getting crappy results and then re-ordering a second CPU of the exact same model and BLAM!! they get good overclocks. looks like you might have had a crappy OCing CPU mailed to you. sorry. but dont give up. someof the other more experiance Members might have Ideas. My first guess is its the CPU temp. yours looks like its running pretty high. you shouldnt be getting anywhere near that high of CPU temps. that might be the problem right there. mabee you got the Cooling block on wrong. or mabee something as trivial as a small hair got inbeetween the block and the CPU. ive heard of such things so its not too far fetched. zoomee Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 tried a lower multi? my 4400+ wont post at above 220mhz @ 11x (auto) multi Dropping it down to 10x helped loads - currently stable with 3 day prime95 on both cores @ 2.5 - (which is the least oc i would expect from this cpu taking into account most peeps oc-ing these chips are hittin 2.6)
AndrewZorn Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 i can only get to 250x10 on mine... doesnt mean its a waste of money, i just got unlucky... besides the 3800+ is the venice core not the san diego core, it is dual 3200+s not dual 3700+s
Angry_Games Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 i can only get 2640 out of my 4400+...but it is most definitely NOT a waste of money (it creams my P4 in most everything)
Grunt_Style Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 its seems the 3800's clock higher. the high one on the OC database was 2805. would that mean its out gunning the 4400 at 2650ish? or would a 4400 running at 2650mhz out do a 3800 at 2805mhz? AndrewZorn Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 i think theyd be about the same that was just one example though, ive seen 4400+s at 2.8 as well too bad mines stuck at 2.
Pyr0 Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 yep, i can get 2805 out of mine
Neoki Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I got mine at 2.684 somin and its fine primestable for around 10 hours when it was with stock cooler but got xp-90c now. Still got high temps. neverbehind Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Earlier this morning I downloaded D2OL (drug design and optimization lab) client to the two computers I have. My 4400 at 2706 simply rocks, period. When My P4 830 is finishing up with two candidates, the 4400 is already in the middle of the 6th candidate. Then of course some candidates need less time to complete.
Musabi Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I have my 4200+ at 2.7ghz right now, stable, 1:1 with 2-2-2-5 timings, its a great overclocker Also, those temps are WAY too high imho!! You might want to look into reseating your heatsink!!
