apassgear Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Hey, this is a long thread indeed, I wonder if something else was said about Kingston modules besides that is not recomended (first post). I'm not a big OC'er or gamer but still I would like to know why Kingston is not recomended, since I did buy a set of 2x512mb PC3200 but haven't instal yet. Any input over this issue? Sharp Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Hello, apassgear For some reason kingston modules do not always work well. You may find that you will need to adjust a lot of timings to get it to work, and it may not run at the rated timings. For that reason Kingston modules are not recommended. NeilFogg Yeah they will work well but why not consider a 2x1GB kit?

Sharp Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Hello, http://www.memory-configurator.co.uk/produ..._kit/index.html http://www.memory-configurator.co.uk/produ..._kit/index.html TeamXtreme kit may reach very close to 300Mhz. If you do not intend to go that far, OCZ is the best choice.

Icez84 Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 forgive me for my noob's qns. Would cloaking be much more diffcuit with 4 x 512 ram? Currently owns a patriot 1Gb set (512x2) + XBLK, thinking of grabbing another set of it... would it be recommended? or should i just sell it and buy a set of 2 Gb set(1gbx2)
Sharp Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 coke29 If your apps need more than 2x1gb then 4gb would be better. Icez84 Yeah it would be, Ocing results/setting will need to be changed. And you would need to run 4 sticks at 2T command rate. (A small performance hit)
Icez84 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Does my app need 4 gb?... currently not, but again my only app is gaming and some school work researches, so i guess the more is better. so i should really sell my and grab some 2 x 1 gbs ram? any good recommends? prefer tcccd/tcc5.
