nF4 Memory Advice (updated 14/11/06)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Yes UCCC.

Your memory timings depend on the frequency at which you run the memory at.

250Mhz = 3-4-3-8.

Anything over 250Mhz may = 3-4-4-8.

The Mushkin PC4000 2x1GB kit with 3-3-2-8 timings is another good kit.

Should be able to get to around 280Mhz with 3-3-2-8.

And then there are the BallistiX modules, some will do [email protected]

Buy directly from Crucial.

hello Sharp,

I got my computer up and running but with one minor setback : the optical drive was not working so it threw me off a bit. But i fixed and everything is running fine now.

I want to express my thanks to everyone, especially to angry games and Rgone for setting up a forum like this (great support!) It helped in making my decision of what kind of motherboard to buy- I bought an Ultra D (I am really pleased with it). I kno that some people had problems with this mobo but I love it. I don't mind tinkering with it.

I settled for the OCZ rev.2 1GB instead of the one you recommended because of all the hassle involved from buying in the US. I got the timing down to 2-2-2-5. It's fast.

I found these numbers near the battery:

49LF004B

33-4C-NHE

0517107-C

Do the above numbers have anything to do with the BIOS? And also, how do I know what kind of BIOS I have?

(I have some results on oc, but I'm not sure where to post it. Could you please direct me? thanks )

ez you can find your bios when you start up its in the lower left hand of the screen when you are going though post look at this link http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21246there is a picture where to find your version and date (i think the date is more helpful than the version)

edit i went with OCZ4002048ELGEGXT-K PC-3200 Dual Channel Gold GX XTC 2G Kit 400MHz 2-3-3-8 @2.8V Gold XTC maybe i should have went with the Mushkin PC4000 2x1GB maybe but ill be back if i need help lol think there will be a hit since i did not get the 500Mhz stuff and olny got the 400Mhz ram ?

After doing a lil research on 2x1GB kits I've narrowed my choices for decent PC3200 down to these three:

Mushkin High Performance

gigaram mach1000

OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K

Considering I've hit a wall at 11x240 (2640) and that my current 2x512 Corsair (PC3200) performs very well at this speed with low stock latencies (see sig), I don't really see the point of getting PC4000 that has high latencies. On the other hand it's gonna be 2x1GB this time, so I'm not really sure if a PC3200 2x1GB will oc as well as PC3200 2x512MB.

Caebron

Most PC3200 2x1GB kits will not OC well so getting a PC4000 would be a better choice.

But this one OC well.

And this one is guaranteed to run at 250Mhz.

Both kits are cheaper than the ones you linked to.

:) Nice to hear your PC is ok.

Post your OCing results/questions in the AMD overclocking section.

Maybe create a thread, EZ's OC diary ;)

ilove mecha,

Sorry. I don't play halo. I only have call of duty 1 and 2 and bf2.

Forgive me for being a big noobie, but I don't know how to get a frame per second on the games. Are there any programs for getting the fms?

thanks. Appreciate any helpful hints.

SHarp,

Once again, a heartfelt thanks for your reply. When I organize my results, I will post it in the AMD overclocking section.

just incase anyone was interested after i rma'ed the DOA gskill pc4000 2gb kit i purchased the OCZ pc4000gx xtc 2gb kit.

The most i have been able to squeeze out of them is 268 @3-4-4-7 w/2.7v

Kinda dissapointing as i was trying to hit 270 @3-4-3-7, however i dont think thats goin to happen. :(

Oh well looks like from what others say i should have gone with the mushkin pc4000 2gb kit.
