sava700 Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Has anyone here had or heard of any issues using the PC4000 1 gig chips in the SLI-DR board? I'm having boot problems and I've already RMA the mobo once and I've even purchased another one to build another system here soon so I know its not a mobo issue.. I'm down to Ram and Video cards. System will just go black screen in the middle of Battlefield 2 and then sometimes several reboots and power kills to get it to come back to windows. Also According to the Crucial site just for these ram chips it says the mobo doesn't support it less its unbuffered and these chips didn't have "unbuffered" beside it. The system hangs in loading of windows.. sometimes hangs in the Bios while just flipping through it. Last time I ran a memtest there were no errors after 24hrs of running it. Possile the ram has gone bad?
Catdaddy Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I have a set of the Crucial Ballstix PC4000 2x1gb. I also have the SLI-DR board. They are running fine. I am running 260fsb x 10. Just finished 10hrs of prime. Battlefield runs great. My timings are 3-3-3-8. I have only tested the memory up to 270fsb and it is stable. I have noticed that sometimes I have to reinstall the video drivers, as they will become corrupt during overclocking sessions. As far as the memory, it is a great product. I have been reading about alot of people having great success with it.
RGone Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Search is super mondo tool... http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...allistix+pc4000 This is the entire search page result using my search criteria. I can see at least 5 or 7 posts saying Ballistix PC4000 troubles in the thread title alone. There is supposedly little problem with the PC4000 Ballistix stuff BUT I see the problems all the time. Tried to get Ballistix 1gig pair to test but absolutely NO luck at all. There is a crucial tech that comes thru at times maybe he will see you and stop by. No idea when or how often he comes and is why I wanted the stuff to test since I am here most all the time. But here is the whole search link and there must be quite some problems for some. Take a look BECAUSE the search words were ballistix+pc4000 http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/search.php?searchid=260702 RGone... Catdaddy Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Again, no problems here. Great Memory. Maybe you should buy some to test with. I went from corsair xms to these ballistix and it couldn't have been easier. I feel like these sticks gave me a whole lot more headroom. I would recommend these sticks to anyone wanting to buy 2 x 1gb. Ballistix PC4000........Great Memory Period. Check out this link and see who is on top. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...62&page=1&pp=
RGone Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Easy for you apparently but not so for Sava700; so why don't you help him out and show what voltages and Dram Configuration timings you used; instead of just saying to him it "works for you"! He likely does not give two shetts who is on top; when his does not work at all. Works for me is not helping him for shett. Give him a hand if you have anything to share but it works for you. RGone... Again, no problems here. Great Memory. Maybe you should buy some to test with. I went from crucial xms to these ballistix and it couldn't have been easier.I feel like these sticks gave me a whole lot more headroom. Acarrera Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 sava700, Test each stick individually to see if one has failed. It sounds like you may well have a bad stick. The Ballistix are quality stuff and very few people are having trouble OCing it. This forum is very pro-OCZ, but there is other top-of-the-line memory that is every bit as good and often better.
Catdaddy Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Sava700, I now have this memory up to 290 fsb x 9, DDR580 (memtest/prime95 stable) with the same settings as above.
