Thasp Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 With my zalman 7700 running at lowest setting, my video card zalman chipset fan running @ lowest, and only one antec case fan running at its lowest, the chipset is at 55-56C at full load with a 600 MHz overclock. With the Zalman running at loud(to be as loud as the stock vid card fan was), and the CPU heatsink running as loud as it goes, and both case fans(like before), I am using my case's temp sensors. Under the same circumstances except with the stock vid card fan(I mention this since the vid card zalman is so close to the chipset heatsink, it has the potential to effect things), the stock fan on my DAGF would cool to 48-50. I have heard a lot of bad things about this cooler, which is why I felt the need to recommend it. It keeps things at sane temperatures, and reduces noise by a lot. If I put my finger in the stock chipset fan, 80% of the noise was reduced. Also, my video card fits in fine with this since it is small. Even with the obnoxious zalman vid card fan, with the huge fins, it fits fine. If you are looking for a quiet solution and aren't afraid to run the chipset a tad hotter, don't worry about the RPMs on other fans, go for the zalman. Thasp Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 With the cpu heatsink, exhaust fan, and vid card heatsink running full speed, the chipset stays around 45-46C. This does defeat the point of having a passive heatsink(to reduce noise), but just shows that if you have nice cooling, it will keep things cool.
