geto Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Anyone encountered video problems? So far I have gone through 3 video cards. Anything other than just general web surfer and I have video problems (IE. High end games). I had a XFX 6800, BFG 6800 GT and borrowed a Asus 6600. Problems with all three. I don't have problems with a 8 meg PCI video card though, granted I'm just web surfing. Kind of frustrating, have had problems since April with this system. Never seems stable. Sunserrae Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Yep. Same here. Doesn't seem to happen at any other time (run video editing software, compression, DVD's, and just about anything else you can think of in movie making both real time, and web based) really except for EQ II. I have not moved over my other games from primary PC for that reason.
geto Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I never had any problems with Everquest 2. Just BF2 and with teh Asus 6600 I had troubles with Dungeon Siege 2.

geto Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I stopped playing EQ2 back in April. Just got to boring for me. Probably because I played EQ 1 for 3.5 years. =( Anyways, I'm at witts end here. Just tired of wondering if the computer will work or not. It went a long time with out any problems, then all of a sudden there's issues. Any other ideas?
Sunserrae Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Yep. I was one EQ for 3-4 years myself. Mainly played on weekends because I had a regular 9-5, and no time during the week. Now I am self employed, and have some free time so I thought I'd give EQ II a look. I agree with you. I've done just about everything I could find on this board, NVIDIA boards, and googling various stuff. I've pull cards, memory sticks, traded slots, flashing, remove and reinstall drivers, different BIOS configs, and today power supply. So I think it's a board, chipset, bus issue or a conflict somewhere.
geto Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Considering either RMAing or sending to A_G, if he has time, to test it out for me. Because I have no idea what else to do.
Sunserrae Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Well if you get some additional info on it, please share. Luckily mine's just a backup system. Even though it's much better than my main at the moment (in everything except reliability) in just about everything from RAM, HD's, and speed. It's unstable when playing EQ II. Which leads me to believe it could be as unstable with some other high end games. Luckily, it 95% of the time IS stable when running it for work projects. Premiere (6.0, not the 1.5) will occasionally crash but that could just as easily be the prog, as the system (if you have any experience with it). I am glad I held off switching the new cpu over to my main. The EQ bug means it will require a bit more research on the fix before I can phase out the AMD 2400 for the new AMD 3000 64 and pick up another one (prolly newer processor).

geto Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Guess not. Now I just need to find where to RMA the motherboard. Looks like you can't RMA to DFI if you are in the states? Have to go through the place you bought it? Hrm, Directron.com says they want you to go through the manufacturer. Interesting.
