goT damn!

so im doing my somewhat daily rounds reading and poking around forums

learning new thingys to play and toy with

i then come upon posts with friggin (real) dfi OCing noobs

with full blow systems costing in the 3g+ range

and "trying" to OC them with a cookiecutter OC database build

man.. how can some of you people afford all that crap?

like a 1g cpu

1g cooling accessories

1g vid cards.

i blow 1400 on a system. and im already hurting like crap.

what the hell do people do with like x2 48z or like fx57

what on earth do you need that damn power for? lol

it just boggles my mind

anyone else feel this way?

I see where you coming from, but your implementation is a tad invalid. Alot of people here, are either new to ocing in general, and come aboard the NF4 wave, or adults, that do not have the time or experience to learn how to oc, and do it as a casual hobby. I beleive more in the latter, its mostly adults, whom can afford such a system, however do not have the time, experience or perhaps the desire before hand. And thus start off as newbs, and then gradually become experienced. And I hear you 1400$ is alot of money to blow on the system.

I have no problems with them, but I see where you get your frustration. This is life, and it may seem unfair, but you'll make that 1400 stretch out much farther, and once you can afford a 3G then your rolling. Think of it as an investment, and for you newbs with 3 grand machines, keepon learning then you will be set, or at least learn enough to research and be self sufficient.

Hey, you have to look at it this way too; You're lucky you can afford a $1400 system!

I'm on a fixed income, and I have to "rake and scrape" for any computer parts! I'm always robbin' from here to put it there (usually in NewEgg's pocket!)

But hey, I have a ball with what I've got, I'm always learnin', and I've got a STABLE 50% O/C to show for it!

Where I live, I see people every day drivin' 700-series Beemers who don't know where the bleedin' turn signals are! They should be ridin' a bus! But no, they've got a $50K+ car!

Same deal with the $3K systems - just shake your head and get on with it....that's life!

Man you guys have some nice systems ;) I will admit though that the main reason I dont have a better system is because it is more of a challenge to try and stretch your money than to get the very best from the start.

You ought to see what a real expensive hobby looks like. Some of my friends have spent 30-60,000 USD this year on racing motorcycles. I am the poor guy and only spent 10-20K this year. Talk about living on Ramon noodles! Just think about 4,000USD on one weekend. Yea I am envious.

umm...I have a job? ;)

Seriously though, I work underground in a hardrock mine, and the money is pretty good. The downside is that it's earned at the expense of my body, and I likely won't live past the age of 60. So you'll have to excuse me for wanting the finer things in life.

As far as overclocking goes, think back to when you were starting out, and cut them a little slack. Everyone was a beginner once.

By the way, according to my wife, I've spent over $5000 on my first build, and upwards of $4000 (and counting) on this one.

Of course those are Canadian simoleons so knock off about 20% ;) .
