Trebaruna Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 I know there are some known difficulties between DFI and memory, but I am a little concerned about how far these difficulties may reach: my memory (type number M2G9OA8ATT9G081CAD) sits in slots 2 and 4, and works in Dual Channel mode, 1T, 2.5-3-3-8 Normally, everything works fine. Prime95, 3dmark05, memtest 86+ (from BIOS), nothing gives problems. However, whenever I start a game (Half-Life 2 for example) the PC freezes. After reading up on dfi-street I increased the voltage of the RAM, but only at 3.2V would it run stable. That sounds nothing like the 2.7/2.8 I've read about. Is there a special condition with this TwinMOS memory, should I fiddle with the timings, is the board faulty, etc.? BTW: Board's BIOS is up to date (23/06/2005) and Windows is fully patched. Other specs: see sig.
Guest Daveandrew Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 What about your video card? What are you using?
Sharp Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 ASUS 7800GTX TOP = a video card
Trebaruna Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Yeah that's my video card But even if it wasn't, the fact that at 2.6 it always crashes and at 3.2 not is pretty telling. Any suggestions? If the memory keeps within reasonable temperature ranges, do I need to worry at all?
THunDA Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 List your complete dram bios settings.. maybe you have a timing off and raising the voltage alot helps to cover it up a little but not totally..

The problem is I dont think ive seen anyone with that ram so its hard to know where to start.. But I would change those things and let us know how you make out.. I dont think you should need to pump that much vdimm into them.. Most 1gig sticks work with low voltage.. EDIT.. If this doesnt work then maybe you should shoot an email to twinmos and ask them if they have recommended timings for the DFI NF4 that you could try.. Trebaruna Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Okay thanks, I'm going to try those.
