Problems with DFI Infinity Ultra 2

Recommended Posts

I have:

Sempron 2400

DFI Infinity Ultra II

DDR 3200 400 (1Gig)

2 Sata 120 g

GeForce FX 5900se

I went to switch in the dual 3200's from Dual 2700's and computer started wigging out.

Now I get no Green Power led when I start system, everything powers up, Hd's CD's but Never makes it to boot, Monitor stays blank,.

I have switched Ram in and Out, Video, unconnected everything but Floppy and one HD, still not green power led on front.

I get the Red power led (on Motherboard) and red Ram led near DDR ram. the HD light also comed on but no power led on case?

Could it be MoBo or CPU?

I really do not feel like buying an new CPU to see, since if it is not CPU I am stuck with another CPU, same if I buy another MoBo.

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Yup, you've corrupted your bios. No Power LED on your case is a classic sign from my experience(and one i've never seen pointed out by other ppl suprisingly).

I tested a corrupt bios in my system just to check out the symptoms and that was one that immediately stood out to me... It also happened when i tried to boot off my Bios Saviour when it had no Bios stored on it :)

You'll have to either get your Bios Chip flashed for free by Angry, attempt to hotflash it in another compatible board or buy a new preflashed bios chip off Tmod.

You should always clear your cmos when adding/swapping out hardware, especially ram.

Yeah, sadly its a quirk of the nForce2's, not just the DFI's. A guy in another forum has just done exactly the same thing on his ABIT NF7-S. Got some new ram, stuck it in without clearing CMOS and corrupted his bios. Annoying aint it :D

I have spare bios chips and also use a Bios Saviour myself, so i'm pretty much covered in case anything goes wrong.
