scooter787b Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 thread started here but im kind of in a hurry http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=411968 post 1: Recently i thought i had cold boot issue, but i just didnt have the 4pin floppy connector plugged to the board, yet i plugged it up yesterday, and i turned off my computer when i went to bed, and when i woke up this morning my computer was 'on' so im like WTF? but the monitor showed nothing, all the fans and lights are on in the case and motherboard, i tried to turn it off with the power button, nothing, tried the power button on the motherboard, nothing, so i flip the power switch on the back of my power supply, and flip it back on, the computer comes 'on' again but nothing on the screen and the only way to turn it off is the psu switch, this only started last night i assume while i was asleep, and no one else in the house would tinker with it, i unplugged the 4pin floppy connector and tried flipping the switch and such nothing, also tried resetting cmos, nothing, this leads me to it might being a psu problem? post 2: well i fiddled with it a bit, unplugged everything, and check the psu to see if it would turn on anything without the mobo, which it didnt, so apparently the motherboard is stuck in a loop telling the psu to give power :| i have no idea how to fix this? or how it came to be, what should i do? everything turns on, but no beep, and no display, the comp just STAYS 'on' with lights and fans going

blinky Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Is that a 20 or 24pin PSU? I suspect it's a 20pin as the specs don't list 2x+12V rails. The board needs a 24 pin PSU.

scooter787b Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 well its been working fine for about 4 months or so....... its most likely the psu dieing or the board acting up, but im not argueing with you i know 24pin is so called 'required' but nothing has started happening till 3-4 days ago

THunDA Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Hey Scooter.. Thats a decent psu but its just not good enough for DFI's NF4 series.. Its hard to say if getting a new one will solve your problem definitly.. But the first thing we look at when troubleshooting is to make sure that all the parts hooked up to the mobo meet DFI's required specs.. These boards are very picky about there power and ram.. scooter787b Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 well the ram seems to be fine, it has to be the psu or motherboard, ive tried unplugging the motherboard from psu, and flip the psu breaker, and nothing worked which is good but as soon as i put the connector back on the motherboard everything comes 'on' with no beep or boot, so i have to flip the breaker again
THunDA Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Well.. That was a good psu for the 250gb that you bought from me .. But the NF4's are much more demanding when it comes to power.. TBH.. Im supprised that it lasted that long without giving you problems..
