Motherboard wants to draw power in constant loop???

Recommended Posts

thread started here but im kind of in a hurry :(

post 1:

Recently i thought i had cold boot issue, but i just didnt have the 4pin floppy connector plugged to the board, yet i plugged it up yesterday, and i turned off my computer when i went to bed, and when i woke up this morning my computer was 'on' so im like WTF?

but the monitor showed nothing, all the fans and lights are on in the case and motherboard, i tried to turn it off with the power button, nothing, tried the power button on the motherboard, nothing, so i flip the power switch on the back of my power supply, and flip it back on, the computer comes 'on' again but nothing on the screen

and the only way to turn it off is the psu switch, this only started last night i assume while i was asleep, and no one else in the house would tinker with it, i unplugged the 4pin floppy connector and tried flipping the switch and such nothing, also tried resetting cmos, nothing, this leads me to it might being a psu problem?

post 2:

well i fiddled with it a bit, unplugged everything, and check the psu to see if it would turn on anything without the mobo, which it didnt, so apparently the motherboard is stuck in a loop telling the psu to give power :| i have no idea how to fix this? or how it came to be, what should i do?

everything turns on, but no beep, and no display, the comp just STAYS 'on' with lights and fans going

TTGI 3 Fan 520w PSU
Looks like they didcontinued it: http://www.super-flower.com.tw/english/3fan-psu-ti.htm

Is it this one: http://www.directron.com/tt520ss4fanb.html , with only +12V@20A?

You really want a min of +12V@26A & you need native 24-pin ATX, too.

Test like this @idle & @load: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/show...ad.php?t=137886

Hey Scooter..

Thats a decent psu but its just not good enough for DFI's NF4 series.. Its hard to say if getting a new one will solve your problem definitly.. But the first thing we look at when troubleshooting is to make sure that all the parts hooked up to the mobo meet DFI's required specs..

These boards are very picky about there power and ram..

well the ram seems to be fine, it has to be the psu or motherboard, ive tried unplugging the motherboard from psu, and flip the psu breaker, and nothing worked which is good :P but as soon as i put the connector back on the motherboard everything comes 'on' with no beep or boot, so i have to flip the breaker again :(
