Swylen Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I read lots talking about 480W requirement. The manual only recommends more than 400W. Will my native 24pin Thermaltake 430W cut it? I just got a built right before bed and only fired a couple times. Long beeps. Got some tweaking to do. Gonna try the minimum w/1 stick trick. I just want to know if I should bother with this PS. It seems kinda flimsy and light compared to the previous 20pin Thermaltakes that I've worked with. http://www.xoxide.com/thermaltake-tr2-430w-psu.html
Boppo Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Read this http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854 DFI says minimum 480W native 24pin PSU.
davidhammock200 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 +12V: 18ANo your PSU will not do it. :shake: In addition to the 480w & native 24-pin ATX, you really need a min of +12V@26A, from a "known good" PSU. TT's are not (with one exception) "known good" PSU's & are NEVER recommended. :shake: Pick a "proven winner" from the "A" list  : http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854 Good Luck, Dave
Swylen Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I really hope that one exception is the 680W TT. My buddy has the DFI SLI board with this PS so I know it works in SLI just dandy.
oliveryochest Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 why waste money on a PSU that is not on the list. Listen to what everyone says Pick a proven winner
davidhammock200 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I really hope that one exception is the 680W TT. My buddy has the DFI SLI board with this PS so I know it works in SLI just dandy. It is not. :shake: The TT 680W has caused a lot of problems & many DFI N4 customers & many, many others have returned them. The exception is not important, because even though it is the best PSU TT has ever sold, it has not yet been proven to work well with DFI N4's. Thermaltake finally gets on my good side with their TWV500. It's properly spec'ed out. Does what it says it does and has a decent modular cable system. Sure, the cables aren't the prettiest. But they're still nicer than most non-modular cables. It was also quiet, if you're willing to occupy your 5 1/4 bay with the fan controller. http://www.slcentral.com/dual-12v-psu-shootout/page8.php jonnyGURU have our disagreements, however his test are very good & very honest. Swylen Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Trying to cancel my order. I got it for $130 shipped which isn't wasting money. I've had good luck with this PS on 4 Balls To the Wall PC's in SLI configs.

jrp65 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Yeah that is right. Go against the grain. Get a cpu that doesn't meet the minimum specs. What the heck. Might as well experiment right? We will be looking forward to all of your future posts asking for help because you listened to one guy who managed to get his system to run with 400w PSU
