bios update question

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering, I have done a few bios updates, following the official dfi routine, and I have always gone and done the cmos reloaded to bring my settings back to what they were before the update. Will that have any effect since the reloaded settings were saved with a previous (older) bios version, and should they all be set manually???

Generally it doesn't seem to be a problem...I have done the same. However if a new bios has options in different places...or hides some options that were in an old bios...it could lead to an issue. So far I have yet to experience any in over 30 flashes...but it is possible.

Manually setting things is always the best choice :)

My .02 cents

no one answers my question about whether i should flash the bios before or after i install windows. also, should i just install the nforce4 drivers directly from nvidias website and install the basic hardrive and usb drivers that come with my xp sp2? should i basicaly ignore the driver disk from dfi?

Straight from the forum rules (maybe you should read them over again):
