ixtapalapaquetl Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 OCCT, SuperPi 32m, and Prime95 8 hours stable. Can even pass Aquamark. But all the 3DMarks freeze on me! Is this a graphics card issue? Tried raising voltage, overclocking, and underclocking my card and nothing helped. Any suggestions? Acarrera Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Try deleting you video drivers, run Driver Cleaner Pro, then reinstall your drivers or the most recent ones. Overclocking can corrupt your drivers apparently due to memory errors.
ixtapalapaquetl Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Good suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not help. A little more info: they appear to be freezing in the exact same places. '05 dies during the first CPU test, '03 during the Troll's lair when it zooms on the woman with lots of hair detail, and '01 about 20 seconds into the flying dragon demo. It's uncanny. Any other ideas?
Catdaddy Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Did you run memtest86?
Acarrera Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Sounds like a possible GPU issue. Do you have another one to try instead of the ATI? I would rule that possibility out to begin with. With all of stability you have demonstrated, the 3D Marks should run.
Boppo Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Are you OCing your VGA?
Shinobi Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Can you pass S&M? I've passed Prime for over 8hours before & OCCT & SuperPI & Memtest and still had stability problems... But i'd always fail S&M even though those said i was stable. Give it a go, if you pass then i'd say you could most likely rule cpu or memory issues out, and i also notice you haven't said you've tried underclocking your CPU & memory... ixtapalapaquetl Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Thanks for the ideas all. I ran 32 passes of memtest86+, and had only one error in test 7 during the first pass - just a fluke? Should I loosen up? Video card is not overclocked. I tried overclocking it, underclocking it, and increasing its voltage with no success. Tried different video card and same thing happened. (Lol - GeForce 400 - fps went down 90%!!!) Dropped down to 2400 MHz and passed. I realize that I am (apparently) at the edge of my system's ability, and of course backing off would solve my problems. But I was hoping to find some tweak that would allow me to keep my current specs. Will try S+M this evening. Gonna prime again today while at work. Is it not significant to anyone that the freezes occur at virtually the exact same place every time? I have had freezes when pushing my system too hard before, but at random spots (and not prime stable). Will get back to you... Thanks again for the ideas. davidhammock200 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 PSU: Ultra Infinity 600WCould be producing fluxuations, noise & ripple, but you need an O'scope to check it. As you are not drawing more than probably 300W, that PSU is not being pushed very hard, so it shouldn't be a problem, at least not yet. Good Luck, Dave
