Sage2050 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 so i just got my computer mostly recovered from the strange problems that started a week ago, but now i can't run stable at default settings. i have to lower my ram frequency to 180mhz, and even then i sometimes get random restarts. any ideas? specs in sig. btw, im running 623 bios
cpuz Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 yes, manually input your stock settings in bios, and run memtest. let it run overnight and see if you get any errors.
Sage2050 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 done that, no errors.
rldolph79 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 What are your temps like?
Sage2050 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 low. i can't remember them all off the top of my head (i'm at school now) but i know my CPU is consistently at 24/25 and my chipset stays around 36.
cpuz Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 ok, did you try clearing the cmos. click on the link in my signature "nf4 board help" there is a link there to show you how to do it the right way.
Sage2050 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 i havent cleared the cmos in about a week, when i was having the serious problems. i'll give it a shot when i get home, but i have a feeling it won't help much. rldolph79 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Well, we can certainly rule out an overheating problem...I've never been able to get my temps that low. When do the restarts usually occur?
cpuz Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 ok, once you clear cmos, try these settings try vdimm @ 2.8 and vcore @ 1.
Sage2050 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 well, if i'm running at 200mhz i usuall restart after the POST and before windows starts to load. when i drop down to 185mhz i get them when i try to load certain memory intensive programs (like WoW, for instance). but it doesnt always cause restarts, just sometimes. Sage2050 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 thanks, i forgot that i updated my bios when i couldnt run, so that may be the problem. i'll give it a shot when i get home.
