USB HDD Partitions Lost After WinXP Reinstall

I had to reinstall WinXP over itself due to loss of internet access. Everything came back to include apps, etc except for the partitions on my Ext USB HDD. WinXP disk administrator brought it up as a single 60G HDD with no partitions. Anyone have any idea how to reactivate the partitions without losing the data. I have been waiting a week on the manufacturer who probably doesn't have any idea. Thanks
