rrhoadsfan69 Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 Sounds silly but, Outta the box hot. Brand new. I got a Duron 900 not even revved yet and already running hot. I have the stock oem cooler on it, with standard grease. Is this normal? I have a celeron 1gig with same brand of MB and runs about 38c. The software that came with the Duron says 60c is the overheat temp.
Psywar Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 Normal, yes AMD tends to run hotter then Intel chips... actually "tends to" is the wrong word.. lets rephrase... AMD Always Runs hotter then an Intelchip.. as long as you dident overclock the holy crap out of the intel.. the stock heatink with the stock grease is prolly the problem.. Id get like a nice cheap copper heatsink and some artic silver, if you dont want to spend to much cash on it.. If u dont mind the noise, I would buy a delta fan for it.. (that itself will lower the temp quite a bit) If you plan on overclocking, I would buy a nice heatsink.. Swiftec, or like Thermaltakes Valcano 7+ those 2 seem to get the best reviews.. hope that helps some... l8rz
Bosco Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 59 does seem a little high my old durons were around 40. Just get a better heatsink or just put artic silver on your old one and just make sure its flush.
Bruno Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 Take it out and re-grease it, for sure. BRUNO
