LanParty NF4 BIOS - Cleaned up 704-2bt a little

Recommended Posts

ummm, I have flashed the bios on this board before with winflash and it worked perfectly. Can I just do the same thing I did to update the official bios or do I have to go through some tricky procedures?

Also I am pretty sure something is up with my ram that is killing my OC so I think this BIOS should help.

So can i just flash my bios with winflash and this file here or is there more to it?

Well, no really tricky, I guess I made it sound more dramatic than necessary... Just clear CMOS and load optimised defaults before flashing. After the flash save the optimised defaults to all 4 BIOS banks.

I was having trouble with my Internet after the flash, could be coincidence but weird, so I will be be disconnecting my Ethernet cables before future flashes.

You've hit on the main issue! I didn't think about that when I posted, doh! Tmod does come out with new version fairly often and there should be a new version very soon. In fact he is now taking suggestions. What specific BIOS version are you refering to? Let him know, he'll probably add it to the new one!

I could be wrong but I think your all set 2Fresh, don't worry! Out of all the UT Lan Party boards the only one that shouldnt' use these BIOS version is my board the Expert. As long as you did indeed flash this specific BIOS (704-2BT(a) and not the E704-2BT which is the name of the Expert specific version!

BTW, did you initialize the BIOS after you flashed it? I tried to find the DFI BIOS initialization process for you but had a hard time ( I just replaced my browser so I lost all my bookmarks). Anyway there is a fairly specific BIOS flashing process for DFI boards which involves a few steps. I don't know how important these steps actually are but I always follow them to a "T". I'll try to list them from memory.

1) Before you flash your board go into BIOS and load "Optimized Defaults".

2) Then go ahead and flash your board.

3) After the flashing proceedure is complete and has rebooted, once again go into your BIOS and load "Optimized Defaults".

4) Let the board reboot but shut it down before Windows actually loads (After the bootup process but before Windows loads). Use the Power button on tower.

5) Now once your board is shutdown remove the PSU cord (Unplug PSU).

6) Once power supply is unplugged move your Clear CMOS jumper to clear the CMOS.

7) Now leaving the CMOS jumper in the Clear CMOS posistion remove your board BIOS battery for at least 10 minutes.

8) After the 10 minutes are up replace your battery and put the CMOS jumper back to default position.

9) I forget is your suposted to load "Optimized Defaults" again or not but I think you can now go into BIOS and tweak to your hearts content!

I am sure some thinks this is overkill but many people who seem to really know what there talking about do do this process everytime they flash their BIOS so I don't take any chances.

Without knowing more about exactly how you flashed our board it is hard to know what is wrong, why it won't restart?

1) Post your signature!

2) One instruction should be as good as any. They may vary somewhat, but overall they should all lead to the same results.

3)
