torped91 Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Hey guys, I just recently bought Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS sound card and want to replace my onboard sound. I heard stories that both the sound cards will clash. SO i want to disable the onboard one, how do i do it? And after that do i have to uninstall the nf3 sound drivers as well? Please advice me. Thanks in advance **I am quite a newbie when it comes to disabling stuff..
Guest Blooz1 Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 OK, this one's easy! 1. Go into BIOS 2. Move to "Genie BIOS", select. 3. Scroll down to "AC97 Audio", select 4. Disable! 5. Save Settings + Exit
getterflash Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Assuming you are running windows XP, go to the control panel, Add/Remove programs and remove the Realtek AC97 software also before installing the new card. I will be going though this next week to install an M-Audio Audiophile Firewire external sound system.
getterflash Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 FYI, I nstalled the m-audio audiophile firewire device last night. I does not conflict with the on-board Realtek audio so I am leaving it intact for game playing/windows sounds, etc. and using the m-audio firewire for serious recording work.
