3000+ venice - 2.7-2.8 GHz claims, yet an empty OC database?

I have heard tons of people claim to get 2.7 GHz out of this on stock cooling. I have had trouble keeping it at 2.63 for over eight hours with prime95 without going above 1.6 volts. I am at 2520 MHz now stable with the 3000+ venice. 2630 MHz requires 1.65 volts which I'd do for a few days to get into the DB but I wouldn't want to run that high all the time.

 

I have heard the same of some other people too.. they were able to get to 2.7 for a few hours but weren't able to keep it on for very long periods of time.

 

Is this why there are no 3000s in the OC database? I expected to see tons of them. Seeing none made me think hey I might not be the only person who reached this wall.

I hit a wall around 2.6 ghz also. If I want to hit 2.65 I have to go to 1.65 volts, which I'm not going to do. 2.7 ghz just won't stay prime stable, period.

 

 

I'm about to pull of the IHS to see if it'll make a difference. My load temps are only 36 C max, so temps aren't what's holding me back. :confused:

2.8 @ 1.52v, 2.9 @ 1.63v, thought the 100mhz wasn't worth the volt-increase so dropped it a bit. I have seen tons of OC databases for 3000+ venices where they hit around 2.8 - 3.0 ghz, try google? ;o

Mine is in the OCDB, here at dfi-street. I run 306*9, 24/7, with 1.325*123%, which bios and software reports as being about 1.58v, 52° max, stock cooling, no extra fans. Some just clock a little better, they all won't do the same. I doubt you'd notice a difference from 2.6 to 2.8 anyway...only in a benchmark.

I can only get 2340 = 9x260 out of my venice 3000, so you guys should feel lucky. I am not sure what stepping I have, but I am going to check next time I disassemble. Anything above 2340 and I get BSOD. I think it might have something to do with my MX510 logitech mouse drivers. I just built the PC so I am still tweaking and learning about the new settings, and will try different things latter.

If you want to go higher, then ask in a new thread, and post all of your current bios settings. For starters, I see you are using 1.2v + 126%, that's only 1.51, and probably about 1.47 actual. Try 1.325+123%, that's what I use. Just watch the temps of course. Unless you got a real unlucky cpu, I'd bet we can get you higher. Have you followed the overclocking guides here, and found your max cpu mhz, max ram mhz, and max HTT, indivually?

I always thought that the droop was the incorrect value. Say if you are running 1.6v and you are getting a report of 1.58 that you take the 1.6v as the correct. Am I wrong? If yes I can spill alittle more voltage to my chip;)
