Xzero Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 im almost done building my future rig but i havent choice the memory yet, im between this two memory: Patriot PDC1G3200+XBLK 1GB 1GB 2x512MB DDR400 2-2-2-5 (TCCD) and OCZ OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K 1GB 2x512MB DDR400 2-2-2-5 (BH-5) the specs will be: amd athlon64 3000+ venice e3 DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D msi x800 vanilla i know the tccd is capable to run faster but with high latency and less voltage and the bh-5 run slower but with really low latency but consumes alot of voltage ill use my future rig to play games and run 24/7 (almost, maybe 20/6) downloading stuff and, if i buy the patriot should i buy an epox motherboard (EP-9NPA+Ultra) cuz i wanted to buy the lan party for the extra voltage to feed the bh-5? thanks
Boppo Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 If you want to overclock you want the LP board. If you don't think you ever will, you might go elsewhere.
OldGuy Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Keep in mind that the XBLK's will more than likely match or exceed the OCZ's at lower frequencies and tight timings - and - leave them in the dust with higher frequencies and slightly looser timings, more than making up the difference in timings with raw power. Besides, is 2.5-4-3-7 really that loose? Me thinks not when you consider it's at 300+ mhz which is easily do-able with the Patriots. Hands down the easiest, most flexible memory to work with right now (for me )...
