ShyGuy91284 Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 I've got a Platinum XP case w/ decent cooling and an SLK-800 and Panaflo Ultra fan. The case has a thermal sensor which I currently have to the side of the CPU (Barton 2500) to keep the temps. I followed the directions and put some thermal goop on the sensor too and put it to the side of the CPU core under the heatsink. Anyone know if this could be affecting my temperatures? They are a lil high.
MEEVAL666 Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 Try checking the bios temps with the sensor in place then remove the probe from on top of the core and check the temps again
dino-new Posted July 27, 2003 Posted July 27, 2003 I don't see how it could effect you temps unless it's sandwiched between the die and your hs. Hope it isn't cause it could get hot. Â Devin
ShyGuy91284 Posted July 27, 2003 Posted July 27, 2003 I removed it, it wasn't. I'm still trying to figure out why my heat dissipation is so weak. All other SLK-800 and Panaflo Ultra combinations work really well as I have heard. And I've got sufficient/not too much thermal goop on it. Good ventilation.... Hmmmm.... Anyone know if the Thermalright goop that comes w/ the SLK-800 could be a factor, or is it decent?
Gigashadow Posted July 27, 2003 Posted July 27, 2003 I don't know about that goop myself, but I always throw away the stuff that comes with the proccesor and use my arctic silver instead. I have a thermal probe set up like your talking about and I got good temps on my P4 3.06 800fsb my temps are around 30 degrees celcuis with a Thermaltake Dragon Orb. Anyway you might want to try cleaning that crap off and getting some arctic silver.
thespatalian Posted July 27, 2003 Posted July 27, 2003 What motherboard are you using?
skibar350 Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 Run your finger nails accross the bottom of the slk-800 and feel for grooves. The slk-900 and the 800 I purchased needed to be lapped really bad. After lapping them and using AS3 the temps where awsome. Yea I agree with them don't use the stuff that comes with the heatsink. I want to try (AS ceramic) bad speeling.....lol
