dino-new Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 Can I lap my CPU with my Heat Sink? Get em both with that shiny finish? Any Ideas? Devin
Propane Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 u cant - the CPU die is already thin and u could wear to the componets that are actually on the CPU hence killing your CPU

DevilMB3017 Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 (edited) Sorry to burst your bubble Kevin...but your CPU is more then "lappable". In fact, if you have the guts to do it (Neither I nor OCC, in part or whole, is responsible for what you do) I reccomend it! **Not needed at all for Intels...almost ever** You should take a small piece of high grit sandpaper (NO WATER LIKE WHEN YOU LAP A HEATSINK, at least I dont) and then you sand a small small piece...just go left to right slowly, then up and down in short quick strokes. Dont do to much. This is more important on a AMD CPU. Then apply some Artic Silver or what TIF you use and enjoy! Judas Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 It's not the shiny finish you want, it's flatness you want. So be very carefull when you lap a cpu, cause it's small sized and the slightest bending could cause it not to be real flat anymore. You gotta be a little handy to manage
