DFI 875B rev B and more ram?

Recommended Posts

YI have a LP DFI 875B rev. B socket 478 board running a 2.4c @3.2 ghz being 1:1 FSB 267 using 1 gig (2x512) OCZ pc4200. With my current setup, can I add two more sticks of ram filling up all banks and still produce the same overclock? The new ram would be same OCZ pc4200 and as you can see, the ram is running at stock speeds. So what do you think, can it be done? All I want is to add 512 (2x256) more to the system.

What is the current RAM amount you have now? 2x256? 2x512?

If you rexisting RAM is 2x256 and you add another set, then you may have to up the voltage a bit in order to maintain your overclock. Make sure that the 2nd set is a exact match - module type, revision, etc.

If your existing RAM is 2x512 then you might run into difficulty using mismatched sized modules. One way of combating this is to use the smaller modules (2x256) in Bank 0 and the 2x512 in bank 1.

My current amount is 2x512 and I wanted to add 2x256 same brand model. So you say that its better for me to add 2s512 more making my total ram 2 Gigs? My ram voltage is already at 2.9v when they require 2.8v. When you mean bank 0 and 1, are you talking about blue and black simm slots or what?

Yes.

Try running them at the voltage you have setup now. If you experience issues from the additional RAM, increase the voltage. If that does not solve the issues, have only the new set installed and run MemTest86 on them.

Blue = Bank 0, Black = Bank 1.
