firearms Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Hi; I Have a Lanparty KT400a Mobo with a sata 1 interface and I tried to install Windows XP /sp2 on to a Hitachi Deskstar 250gb Sata 2 hard drive. Xp says it can't find the hard drive. I know I may be trying to do the impossible by using sata 1 & 2 together. And I'm not sure if the hard drive is backwards compatable. I've looked on DFI's web site for sata drivers for my board and they don't have any. So my question is? Is there a way to install XP on this board. If yes how do go about doing it. And yes I had the jumper on enabled for the sata port. TIA
Angry_Games Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 you do not need SATA drivers for the Lanparty KT400A...it has a single integrated Marvell SATA chip. for the drive to detect, you CANNOT have ANY drive connected to the Primary IDE channel. this means you can ONLY use the Secondary IDE channel when using a SATA drive. there are no drivers as they are not required for the single SATA chip on this board.
