Is the OCZ Tony mob aimed torwards OCZ ram? I will be testing Bios's soon for the Expert. Is there a Bios I should avoid? I am just looking to get stable past 2.8. I feel that the bios might be holding me back.

Also, is there a way I could back up the bios I am currently using? I am not sure what they shipped me this time.

I used this CD to flash my NF4 Expert to the Tony EX406BTA bios. The flash went fine, and I pressed F1 to reset. Then it wouldn't post. After 30minutes of troubleshooting, I found out that it won't POST with ram in either of the first channel slots (closest to CPU), but running single channel was fine.

I tried flashing to the regular 406 BIOS with no avail.

All flashes were done @ stock speeds and 2.8v dimm /w CE-6 chips. Why would a BIOS flash fry one of the memory channels??

I don't think a bios flash would burn up any of the memory channels.

What bios did you originally have in this system?

There has to be something else happening here.

OCZ Tony's bios is just softer on the memory timings so it will boot with less problems using several different brands of memory.

I haven't heard of any ill effects with any expert bios so if you are really looking to do some tweaking try all of them.

It was 11/25 bios before. I tried flashing back to those and the Tony 704-2BT as well, still won't POST with anything in the first channel slots

I assume you have cleared the CMOS and have NOT used any of the previous CMOS Reloaded settings?

If you don't allready do this, please do so for those that dl your iso.

awdflash bios.bin /py /sn /wb /cd /cc /cp /LD

/cc and /LD won't totally clear the cmos correctly, however using both at the same time is halfway decent.

/wb for example is extremly important.

From one rev of a bios to the next, may have a diff bootblock.

Even modded bios'es may have modded bootblocks.

So it's extremely important that you include that.

For example it may not be so important say from hellfire's 3eg r2 from 619.

However, it would be imporatant for slash's rev of that bios, since he modded the SIP located in the bootblock.

Flashing from say 506 to 112404, would need it as well, as there's a few changed bytes here and there located in the bootblock.

From previous experience using modbin back in the day, with a kt333 board.

Not flashing the bootblock resulted in a half dead bios.

So please ensure you flash the bios in it's entierty if you allready don't ;).

Just a heads up yo :).

Also...

Ensure that people know not to use a hotflash routine when they don't need to.

The /f perameter to be exact.

If you use it on a working chip, it can kill it.

Not permamently, but it's not fun to kill an image so...

Also please ensure that people know not to ever enable bios flash protection in the bios setup.

Trying to flash will result in a failed flash.

Allways resulting in a dead bios after reboot.

:)

Just one more thing to bother you with.

I have one more modded bios then this, but it's an inf bios not a lpb bios.

The rest I have are mine, so I don't include them in this rar.

It was something I put together one morning a while back.

Anyways I'd like to know of you know of any more then what is here, for the lpb:

UNK means I don't know if it came form an official or beta.

There's a lot of dfi bios'es I don't know if they were official or beta because of the stock naming convention on alot of the older ones.

If you're interested in it give me a holler and I'll up it somewhere.

Otherwise give me a holler if you know of anymore ;).

I know there's a 708 or somehting like that that I miss.

Someone I seen pass through here once had it stock on there board, but quickly flashed over it.

I'm interested in ANY other rev, or perhaps alt rev's of the same bios.

Edit:

Oh yeah, I miss these:

DFI_Lan_Party_Ultra_B_Discovery_0.3_ED_E4_EB_23.11.04.rar

Merlin mods.

Looks like this dir lister is having probs on the names...

I include the command line that DFI has placed in their bios flashing routines for each differnet board that I include on my Cd.

I feel that it is the best compromise as their are many members or users of the CD that want the flash routine as close as possible to DFI's own.

I realize that the bootblock may be different between bios's and my experience with it after programming was it writes the bootblock anyway. I have confirmed that using my eprom programmer. I have had more issues using the /wb command then I did without using it.

Hi

I have 2x512 PC3200 ballistix and i am using bios 623. the mem max out at ~240 with 2.5-2-2-6 timings and 2.6V.

I was considering an uppdate, I know 704-2BTA is good for ballistix mem but i would like to know how good is the new official or 0406BTA compared to 704-2BTA ?

wich bios is 704-2BTA based on ?

is it better to go for older 704-2BTA or new official?
