Can I rewire my case fans to my MOBO?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys... kind of a stupid question but I would like to know if there is a way to wire my three case fans to the MOBO connections. I was thinking that this way the MOBO can monitor the speeds and such. Right now they are wired to connec to the Molex connectors.

If you have any information whether this can be done or not, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for responding. The link brought me to a cable that connects a three pin fan to four pin power supply. The fans I have connected have 4 pin connectors and the power supply on the MOBO is three pin. Are there any cables that go the other way so I can plug in the four pin into a three pin power supply?

i cant believe you guys are letting him do this? Dude, dont draw the power from the mobo for your fans. You get connectors that split the wires to psu, from wire going to sensor connector on your mobo. You then draw no current thru mobo, and still get the sensor readings. Looks alot cleaner as well.
