Lawrence_Chiu Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Have there been any announcements of the next LANPARTY SLI? Things that I would like to see in the next LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR - Passive nF4 chipset cooler like the Asus CoolPipe - SLI X16 in both PCI-E slots - PCI-E x16 slots farther apart to accomodate water blocks/cooling (like Asus) - jumperless SLI switching (like Asus) - 2nd SATA controller can do SATA 300. - Some like the Abit Guru panel would been cool, the FrontX is a poor comparison - Upgrade Karajan to HD version of Realtek audio (ALC880) That's my wishlist. What else?
SaFrOuT Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Have there been any announcements of the next LANPARTY SLI? i have seen the layout of those mobos but i don't think there was a date for releasing or anything - Passive nF4 chipset cooler like the Asus CoolPipe i won't trust that in my O/Ced system - SLI X16 in both PCI-E slots this is nvidia's next update so DFI can't offer anything till nvidia does - PCI-E x16 slots farther apart to accomodate water blocks/cooling (like Asus) i think this will be solved in the new layout of the nf4 based mobos - Upgrade Karajan to HD version of Realtek audio (ALC880) very nice indeed

Regiment Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 The 2 x16 slots are already in the Dell systems, so hopefully it will only be a few weeks/months or so before a desktop version is announced by Nvida
bnf Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 - Passive nF4 chipset cooler like the Asus CoolPipe Is that like the Abit OTES heatpipe? If so, please not, it won't work in upside down cases like mine.
Worm Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Actually, the current chipset cooler is a remarkable piece of equipment since it uses magnetic levitation to float above the surface in order to reduce friction. You can read all about it here
Dynomutt Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 yep, its a nice tech but its just too damn noisy when the system gets hot and it spins @ 7000 rpm
