Vortexics Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I was fooling around and tried to OC for first time the memory, anyways I was using a divider 150 mhz that gave me 200 mhz the stock speed of my ram, and I jump to 166 mhz which gave me 218 mhz it ain't too much, but is this safe or value ram can't be OCed?, I did memtest test #4 #5 #7 #8 for 10 loops each one , all passed no errores I am using 2.6v for vdram. Fight Game Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 If it passes all the benchmarks, and you don't have freeze-ups, or any other instability, and the temperatures are good, then it is safe for any type of ram, or any component for that matter. With higher voltages, comes higher overclocks, but also higher temp's, and with this, it sometimes can decrease the possible lifespan of the component. If you need more volts to overclock, and your temp's are high, then use some extra fans, or water cooling if you want.
