dton Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 The first thing i noticed about my mb was that the fan, once it spun up to around 6krpm the sound was WAY too annoying, compared to my previous, almost dead silent comp. So i've been looking over all the threads about aftermarket or modified chipset coolers but i still havent decided on what i should do. I dont have a dremel so i think modifing another HSF or cooler would be out of the question (prove me wrong?) i've thought about gettin the Zalman passive heatsink and just moving my vid card to the second slot. Will that work? i;ve heard that the zalman will sometimes run hot, but the airflow in my case is pretty good. Are there any other suggestions? i'd prefer to have a passive heatsink, or just a really quiet fan. thanks alot.
G.N.U.Fragman Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 watch here: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6577 my own solution was not the most impressive but certainly the cheapest....and easy.
510kut Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 hah I'm in the same situation as you. Like if the chipset fan stays around 4k I don't mind. but once it gets to 6k it is pretty annoying. I dunno what I can do though my 7800gt sits like on the heatsink/fan, so I'd need to get something thinner then the stock one lol.
