VenuS Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Hi Guys ! My current rig is fast and stable and i love it. But i think iam bottleneck it with my HDD wich is Western Digital 80 GB 7200 RPM 8 MB Cache IDE. So basicly i have two questions : 1. If i 'll move to SATA or SATA II will my system performance will be significant faster ? 2. If yes, then wich brand HDD u will suggest,i will only need 80-100 GB middle range prices. Thanks guys ! davidhammock200 Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 The HDD's are always the bottle-neck in todays systems & without going to RAM-Disk or another solidstate HDD replacement, it is going to stay that way. The actual seek times & transfer rates of single HDD's is about the same regardless of interface. The SATA II, SATA, ATA-133 & ATA-100 are all about the same. The 10,000RPM WD Raptors are by far the fastest & 3 of them in RAID 0 will show an improvement. This might help: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4177 Good Luck, Dave
VenuS Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 In simple words if i am not going for Raptors Raid i will not see any improvements? Or just simple 10 000 RPM will do a little ?
