What is the Lanpart UT SLI-DR (no typo)

Recommended Posts

Allright, I understand what the Ultra-D, the SLI-D and SLI-DR boards have.

However, on both monarch and newegg I see a "Lanparty UT SLI-DR" (note "UT") with exactly the same specs as the non-UT board, just a little cheaper (has Karajan, dual gBE, dual SATA controllers). DFI's website does not list this board.

What is the difference between the UT and non-UT versions of the SLI-DR boards?

You have 4 led on the motherboard. The SLI motherboards also has a connector on the motherboard for the front X panel. Yes it fits a 3.5 bay.

Here is how you read the diag led's

4 LEDs on = Power applied

3 LEDs on = CPU has been detected OK

2 LEDs on = RAM has been detected OK

1 LED on = VGA has been detected OK

0 LEDs on = System has booted to the Operating System.

As long as you are in the BIOS including running memtest from the BIOS option, there will be one LED on.

I am not too interested in the LED panel if the LEDs do not do stuff during normal run. Can I control these LEDs via ACPI?

But if I end up buying a SLI-DR board I will probably offer you to pay me the difference for the LP version and I could send you the extra stuff. Send email if you'd like that. But I cannot make promises, the ECC issue is holding up my decision.

Although, it might be cool to put that "Lanparty inside" sticker on a SPARCstation :)
