Zer0X Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Alright I had gotten up to 250HTT*11 on my 4800 X2 @1.5 and it was rpime stable for 24hours (26 actually) so I wanted to go up higher. settings: HTTMulti @3 Chipset 1.6V VDIMM @3.0V HTT Freq 260 VCore 1.55 RAM Divider at (100 1:2) All timings at AUTO I get into windows and run prime and it fails in 1 minute. Alright maybe it needs more Vcore new settings: HTTMulti @3 Chipset 1.6V VDIMM @3.0V HTT Freq 260 VCore 1.45*110%([email protected])=1.6V RAM Divider at (100 1:2) All timings at AUTO Get into windows and prime fails in 5 seconds...not good. My temps were 41C on load... What went wrong on this rig? Advice?
SaFrOuT Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 which test r u using in prime ??? and why r u using thise big ratio for ram and also never set all the timings to AUTO find a mutli that will keep ur ram @ DDR400 while ur HTT is @ 260 and then set ur timings to 2-3-2-
Zer0X Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I am trying to find the highest HTT I can ge with my CPU which is why I used the divider. Now I am really jammed though; I can't get back into BIOS. I have tried three times to install windows and it keeps hanging at "setup is now starting windows" and it stays there. After I forced a shut down I did a CMOS reset (unplugged the PSU from the wall). Once I booted up again it showed the splash screen and then the display is black (monitor light is active)
chris.y2k.r1 Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 What makes you think unplugging the computer resets CMOS?? If you are getting the splash screen then the bios is probably intact. Just hold down insert when you boot and then go right into the bios by hitting delete right after you see the monitor turn on. Just to boot I would load optimized defaults and go from there. MinyAmoo Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I'm not sure about insert but delete works for me and if you set it to defaults make sure to go in and disable ide hard drive and enable sata since you have a sata. also they say it doesnt make much much differance but if your only going 250-260 fsb use 4x htt that makes it 1000 X 2 to 1040 X 2 and I feel safe and have never had a problem with those ranges. I always unplugg my power cord before I reset the CMOS (red jumper above the battery) Problem is after the splash screen if I press delete I get a blank screen with a cursor blinking. MinyAmoo Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 also if you use auto settings it will give you what there supposed to run at not overclocked settings. READ THIS after you do memtest and find settings that work you can worry about your cpu. I would ask a ballistics specialist for timings, but don't use ddr 100 settings then 3.0v its a waste your not even runnig stock and with that memory you can probably push it to 260 if not use the 9/10 divider (183)

Holding the insert key down when you power up the machine tells the BIOS to boot using optimal settings. It gives you the best change of getting the machine started. Granted, this is with the NF2 motherboards, I don't know if it holds true for the NF4s but I would think it does.

Well, I can tell you my rig did not like the vcore settings like you have, I was stuck at about 2.450ghz it does like LDT 1.3v Chipset 1.7v vid start up 1.5v vcore 1.3v * 126% for some reason it hits 2.600 now. Might work for you too.

Fight Game Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 1040 X 2 and I feel safe and have never had a problem with those ranges. This may work for you, but most advise against it. Anything between 600-1000 doesn't make a difference, but anything over can be bad.
Lane Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I would love to try them but I can't seem to install windows...it keeps halting. Tell me, you hav a blue screen?? If it's drop during windows installation, this is your settings of DDR don't work...
