I am stuck....... Moderate goal of 250 FSB with 12 cpu multi.... I am prime stable with 11 multi but am unable to go past as cpu become unstable? I am taking the ram down to 133. The following are me settings.....

So when I run prime and it spikes to CPU boom prime shuts down............ Any ideas? This cpu should be fine at 3.0 mghz.

PS. Ram doesnt matter as I have her down to 133 when testing cpu but for say so ram is pass 29 in memtest at these settings with no errors.

That x4 HTT multiplier is probably too high. I remember reading that most people try to keep it well *under* the stock 1000 when overclocking. Try bumping that down.

I just finished testing my ram with a fsb of 255 and cpu at 11 and am prime stable for a couple of hourse so........

 

I am 2.8 mhz and ddr 510 at 1T 2.5-3-3-7.... at 260 I get way too many errors to tweak out so it looks like I would have to go to 2t or really loosen her up which I dont wanna do.

Try using Tref of 3120 or 4708.. They seem to work good for tccd.. Even if your running the ram way under spec with a divider it doesnt mean its not the problem.... Sometimes if a timings is out of wack it will affect your clock..

 

Have you ran memtest ?

 

Another thing to try.. See if it clocks to the 12 multi when only using one stick of ram.. I know this wont be how you want to leave it.. But its a good troubleshooting thing to do..

With respect to memtest.............I have passed memtest 29 times last night (all test) with no errors at 250 fsb and 11 multi.

 

I have already trouble shooted stick individually............ I had to rma my first mobo due to a bad ram slot (happens). Anyhow, I dont think it is the ram although I hope you are correct about the timmings being a touch off.....

maybe some more volts on the cpu? Do a search and see what others are using with that cpu

If this is stable, then try changing the normal if you want. From what I hear, changing this setting lowers that second number (forget what it's called) by .5, so having yours at 5, and fast, then it's running 4.5 - probably too low.

I see so many SDs winding up at 2750-2850 on air cooling. I thought a 250x12 would be a snap with the 4000+ but that's where I would up. I don't know if that is a moderate goal. wish you luck and keep us posted but it's luck of the draw when OCing.

thanks, just re-applied as5 to cpu and chipset to ensure that was not an issue as i felt the were running a little hot for the low vots they were getting...... I may need to lap my cpu but never done it before and not sure I am comfortable with it -- the edges are a little high and present a small cove effect.

 

Anyhow, I just wanted to eliminate a bad as5 install as the issue.

I am going to give it through the week as I go out of town (work) but start a litttle vacation on Friday so I might have more time post honey do list to work through this thing. Hopefully, AS5 reset will yield better results.

 

Anyone see any possible tweaks? gotta ask...lol
