Subject: Memory Problem

Hi , I recencly bought 2 PC3200 (DDR400) Kingston/512MB *(KVR400X64C3A/512) , the weird thing is that when I use them the computers stars and the system reboot in the windows loading procces.

I tried to use only one in slot 2 , and the same happens , I need to know if the ir something I can change in the bios or something in windows , I also have a 512 corsair and whith that one the computer works fine.

I will like to change my corsair for the 2 Kingstons to use them in dual channel

Thanks for the help

System.

AMD Athon 64 3800

DFI Lan Party NF4UT

Nvidia GeForce 6600GT PCIE

Creative Audigy 2ZS

Seagate Barracuda SATA 120 GB

At this time sir there is seeming compatibility issue between the DFI NF4 boards and most all of this type memory. > KVR400X64C3A/512

Maybe 2 in 10 users or less have it work on the DFI NF4 board. Kingston changes the modules that are used to make the memory sticks themselves so often that cannot keep up with which weeks sticks from Kingston seem to work. They (kingston) do not put revision numbers on the sticks to catalog or track which series of sticks of a "model' will work.

There is one chance in 10 that you might be able to do a search of the 64 bit forum at www.dfi-street.com and turn up a user there with a little success and see what he 'had to do' to make it work at all. For the most part, personally, I fear a waste of your time sir. Thank you

Does anyone know how to fix it???

Thanks in advance , I really need help beacuse I cant return the memories to the store

Hello,

What power supply do you have to?

Did you plug all 4 power connectors into the board?

http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...76&postcount=95

BIOS version is shown at the bottom left of the screen at POST when the board is detecting the hard drives. (it is a date).

Or download this and run it, and look at the date shown in the motherboard TAB.

Ok, Since you do not know your bios ver. You either have bios ver 1/25 or 3/10. (depending when your board was mfg'd) I would suggest you flash to bios ver 623-3 This is the latest oficial bios. Then try Sharp settings. If still a no go, try flashing to beta bios ver 510-2. This ver seems to work with value ram.

To see what bios ver your are currently flashed to, you will need to disable full screen logo show Under Advanced BIOS Features in bios. When your system posts, the bios ver will be displayed in the lower left corner of your screen.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi,

I have the exact same Kingston Value Ram memory and got numerous problems with stability on my system.

At first i flashed mine to the 5/10-2Fix Bios and tried Sharp's configuration, but still got some instability so i juiced up the DRAM voltage to 2.9 and now i can play all games without hanging or without the annoying restarts.

(I thought that my OEM 500W PSU was the problem but thankfully it wasn't)

Also, i'm using CAS 2.5 instead of CAS 3 like in Sharp's post, but it also worked fine with 3.

Try to up the DRAM voltage too, hope it works for you.

Oh yeah, and i'm using the 2 Orange slots as well.

Cheers,

- Ashler
