Mars1 Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 These questions are about the DFI LP UT nForce3 250gB mobo. 1. Which is better placement for your memory; slots 1&2 or slots 1&3? 2. Considering the nature of how s754 cpu's are designed; Would you see a performance gain using only one stick of memory instead of two or three? 3. A: Has anyone varified the existance of 1gig. memory sticks running on samsung TCCD? B: If so, how well do they overclock? extras: Is it true that the maximum achievable overclock on a 3400+ (sh-cg) clawhammer core cpu is 3ghz. ? if you have two sticks of memory in front of you and both of them are samsung TCCD but one is rated at DDR600 3-4-4-8 and the other is rated at DDR400 2-2-2-5 are they essentially the same memory? bump...anyone? ~Mark Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Prostock62 Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I belive that most are getting better results using 1 & 3 slots with 2 sticks of memory.I use to run one 512 stick on slot 1. I had a hard time figuring which gave better results,one 512 stick or a set of 2 x 256 sticks.Iam not using TCCD memory but from what i been seeing either using Windbond base or TCCD memory in these configurations will yeild better results.I can not say for sure which chip will out perform the other.This is my opinion. cmay119 Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Hi, I've found from my own results with a 3200+ C0 rev cpu that DIMM slots 1 & 3 have yielded slightly better results for both stability and overclock over 1 & 2. The actual bandwidth would not be effected running 1x1024 or 2x512 as S754 does not support dual channel. However, usually you can get a better overclock from 2x512 than 1x1024. The newer 1GB modules just can't sustain as high of an OC. Also, the lowest lantencies I've ever seen on a 1GB Module has been 2-3-2-5 or 2-2-3-5. I'm not sure whether Samsung TCCD has been implemented into a 1GB module, but I'm sure other people on this site know for certain. DevilDriver Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Im still working at getting stable after 2 weeks on this board, but for me slots 1 and 2 work best. slots 1 and 3 give me a butt load of errors in memtest regardless of ram settings. slots 1 and 2 I can get to pass memtest, and Im just starting to seem stable but it is requiring 2t timings which Im not happy about. kaltmond Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 i have one corsair 3500c2 and one 3200ll,both BH5, but 3200 can not past 240, and 3500 can reach 250, with 12 i cannot pass 237, with 13 is 240 no problem... btw, both @ 3.5V..... That's peculiar. How knew are those Mushkin Blue DIMMs? Are those the UTT-BH5 sticks? If so bring your Cas Latency back to 2. Then bring your tRCD (Ras# to Cas# Delay) back to 2 or 3. Then bring your tRP (Row Precharge timing) back to 2. Then last but not least set your tRAS (Min Ras# active timing) to 05. Then set your DRAM voltage to 2.8v or 2.9v. From there, try to set your CPC back to 1T and see if it posts/boots properly. I suggest these timings purely for stock settings. So set your HTT/FSB back to 200 if it's not already set at that. I purchased them the end of last year, so from my understanding they should be windbond utt. what get's me the most is I originaly had this set up on an MSI Neo platinum and it all worked great no problems at all. on this mobo I can not get stable to save my life, but Im gona keep working at it. I realy love the features of this board and want to like it. what I find the most odd was on my MSI board I tested the ram for 12+hrs at 220fsb 2.5-3-3-6 1t with out any errors. this is my ram. http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/memory_detail.asp?ID=47 same individual pt# but not sure if they have changed how they make em since end of last year. I know it sounds a bit far off... but I too had one hell of an experience when first using/setting up this board... It was my first athlon64 build but I'm glad it was hard now thats it's over with because I learned so many new things... one thing I've found (and I'm not sure if others will agree with me on this) is that this board is very touchy with the bios... you have to make absolutly sure you followed the correct procedure when flashing the bios no short cuts...its part of the reason I have stayed with the 9/14/04 bios - I had tried a different one and didn't have good results. Angry_Games Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 A. performance 1GB modules can have Samsung UCCC chips on them, but they wont have TCCD that i know of B. the OCZ PC4000 2x1GB modules will hit 250 easily (they do for me anyway). This is their Rated speed, and are guaranteed to hit it (but your cpu is not guaranteed to do this) now, keep in mind the memory controller on the 754 cpu's are not going to be (generally) as good as the 939 counterparts. I just ordered a set of these OCZ performance series pc3200 2-3-3-6 2x512 to see if they play with this mobo any better than the mushkin. they should be here tuesday.
