General Septem Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Talking obout the FDD and Molex cable connected to the motherboard. Are these power cables really necesary? my PSU has only one FDD cable and i dont want to lose my floppy drive. Your board should have come with a splitter you plug a molex into with one FDD and one molex output. If not you can pick one up quite easily. If I may suggest though, use the adapter between a molex and your floppy, not between your molex and your motherboard. If it works out better for cable management though, put it wherever you wish. I don't think the extra connector is going to interfere too badly.

I made a spliter weldind some spare cables i had, it looks pro and it really makes the board more stable...thx.
RobFritts Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Talking obout the FDD and Molex cable connected to the motherboard. Are these power cables really necesary? Wow. This question is still being asked? Makes you wonder if people ever actually spent time reading before posting... Speaking of which, so that this is not a flame, or at least a smaller one... YES!!! ALL FOUR POWER CONNECTIONS ARE REALLY NECESSARY. Strictly speaking, you can do whatever you want to if your rig is still stable at the end. However, why tempt fate? Just plug the damned things in and it's one thing you won't have to troubleshoot later.

Speaking of which, so that this is not a flame, or at least a smaller one... Man relax, have you read every forum here at the DFI Street? NO YOU HAVENT...! I dont consider your post a flame couse i tried the motherboard without the connector and it worked great without it for some time, but as you can see i have a sucky PSU and i guess it wasnt delivering enough power, so i pluged in and now it works better!. Im not a DFI Lanparty Expert and dont want to be another fanboy, couse you cant be too fanatic about anything becouse thats just lame, as every company have good and bad departments when comparing them. Its like not answering a student a question because the teacher thinks that question is too stupid to answer, cmon i have other things to do too not only read read and read. Thats the point of discusion forums, discuss. If you agree i have another question: What is the better position for the memory? the yellow or the orange banks? If you desagree you can ask the administrator to close my acount for being too stupid to know all and too lazy too read every post.... RobFritts Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 i have another question: What is the better position for the memory? the yellow or the orange banks? You're kidding, right? No one expects people to read the entire forum. However, I think it's fair to ask that people read the sticky posts and particularly the guides. That's the answer to both your point and your specific question. If your time is more valuable than to spend it reading, then mine is too valuable to spend answering your questions. There's a reason they're called "Frequently Asked Questions."

General Septem Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 If you agree i have another question: What is the better position for the memory? the yellow or the orange banks? The orange ones.
wolftotem Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Thanks General, i had been using them in the Yellow ones with no problems because they didnt mention any of that on the manual, at least on the fisical one. That should be added to the guide as Angry only install one module to try but he doesnt say you will cotinue to fill the orange slots in the initial build. bearskin Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Just read the nF4 LanParty initial build and I am concerned. I did notice the post dates so maybe my concerns are unwarrented. I have a LanParty UT nF4 SLI-DR EXPERT. My board does not have the molex or floppy connection that it is said to be necessary for stability. I also noticed from the pics that my board is a different configuration. What am I missing?
Pappy Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Just read the nF4 LanParty initial build and I am concerned. The FDD Type 4 pin Power connector is beside the first PCI-E x16 slot near the yellow DIMM slot. From the DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR Expert Spec Sheet 1 24-pin ATX power connector 1 8-pin ATX 12V power connector 1 4-pin 5V/12V power connector (FDD type) No Molex connector though - as far as I know- My UT Expert should be here Monday or Tuesday from Newegg. Hope that helps
