Cleaning your NF4 Chipset fan and replacing with AS5 (or other thermal

Recommended Posts

the base of it is metal, but the rest of it is some sort of plastic that looks like metal until you bust one of the 'fins' lol and find out it is cheap grrrr

this is just another reason to replace it with something good

Wait a minute. If I am using AS5 how much should I use? Or should I spread it? I only ask since it is not like the processor where you have the heatspreader and the core is in the middle, it is actual chip-heat sink contact.

there's nothing to not understand

there are no video cards where the pcb is below the pci-e slot insert point

period

there are no video cards that have pcb lower than the insert point of hte pci-e

none

zero

nada

zilch

not sure what else there is to explain about this...

BUT the fan/box on my HIS X850xt iceq2 turbo makes it imposble to use the card in the first pci-e port

unless ur cutting alitle of the fan/box

But it's not the PCB, it's a little plastic shroud thing you can cut off. If it was part of the PCB you'd be SOL lol

I thought about lapping the bottom of my chipset cooler, but honestly my unmodded cooler has my chipset idling cooler than most of the reports I see for idle modded coolers... maybe it's an airflow thing, maybe I just got lucky and got a really well done application... who knows :P
