Emil Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Many of the overclocking geeks here and in other fora have their so-called bragging benchies for the sole purpose of bragging in contrast to their 24/7 clocks. This is based on the common logic that as you go higher ... higher vlotages ... highers fsbs ... higher temps ... the toll to your hardware's life expectancy may become greater. So, ... your computer is expected to last longer if run within a more reasonable overclock, say within 10-20% of ratings. Linears at the most i would watch the temps, i like my temps to stay below 40C when i run my settings in sig 24/7, entirley up to you, i tell you what though if you can run those settings you have listed then i would be looking for a better cooling solution and i would be running what you have if not pushing for higher......Well done and GLuck. linears4 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 i did it with a pair of bh5 256x2. yes my tccd can do it too, but with looser timings, at least 2.5-3-3-8 instead of 2-2-2-11 for loggan: i really can't think to a better cooling solution, this question had drove me crazy... the real problem is the ambient temperature,italy is too hot in summer... but now ambient temp has dropped down, like about 25 and is more easy to reach good overclock. i have already an sp97, with a 92 mm sunon 45 cfm and my case temp during the bench at full load almost remain constant at 33/35 degrees on yesterday. the only thing i will try is a more cfm capable cpu fan. linears4 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 oh, yes, i know that fan... but i think i'll never going to use it. i don't like to feel like in an airport...except for holidays... :-) but, i think for shure using that, temps will drop down by several degrees. actually my system is almost silent, but i know that there is no possibility to have great performances and silence...maybe with a liquid cooling... but i prefer the simply air, is more maintenance free . i think i will go for a samrtcase fan by thermaltake 92mm, it is reo controlled, temp controlled if you want,and at the max it give a rated 90 cfm what do you think?
