dragon70us Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 (The specs listed below are for a current work in process) I also have a A64 3500 with a Venice core on the way. My question is, will all three gigs of ram work on this mb at default speeds w/o having to go 166 and oc my way up. I already have the memory, pulled from my current system, and would very much like to get this board. However ( in my search of the forums), it seems that this board doesn't particularly like it when all four dimms are used. So, is there anyone that can affirm this or let me know if it will work. Thanks in advance.
Fight Game Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 your specs are not listed in your sig, or below. Lots of people are running 4 dimms without a problem. You'll have to disable CPC (2T), is all.
dragon70us Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Sorry about that. (NOOBS)
dragon70us Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 So I will be able to run 3gigs in 4 dimms at stock speed as long as I set it to 1T
Fight Game Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 no, as long as you set it to 2T. Sorry about that, I can see how you couldve got confused with the way I worded it. 1T=for 2 dimms (although some use 2T anyway for better stability or overclockability) 2T=for 4 dimms, pretty much required, although some have gotten lucky and was still able to run 1T with 4dimms
dragon70us Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Thanks. Will update/post questions when I get the rest of the parts and hopefully up and running.
Sharp Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Hello, For the best possible performance you should match all the sticks and use only 2. If it works, benchmark the PC with 2x1GB and other combo. Mixing different densities can be a problem too. (1GB/512MB).
