New Member here! I am building a new computer, I have everything picked out except for the RAM modules. With this build understand that it will be used for high end gaming and audio production DAW Software ie (Ableton Live 9) CPU: Core i-7 5820k MB: MSI X99S Gaming 9 ACK LGA 2011-v3 RAM: ??? GPU: EVGA GTX 980 HDD 1: SAMSUNG 850 PRO 1TB PSU: EVGA SUPERNOVA 850W CASE: HAF X CPU Cooler: H80i GT What I would like to know is if I should go with DDR4 RAM Modules or if I should go with the highest frequency DDR3 Modules I can afford for 16 or 32 GB, once again I will be using my computer for high end gaming and DAW software that can be pretty CPU intensive, in the past I have had problems with my DAW software crashing on me, which lead me to buy a Mac for a while. However now I really want to try Windows 10 when it releases and have a gaming computer as well. Let me know what your thoughts would be when it comes to RAM for my needs? Low timing, OC Speed, anything you could think of that would allow me to run my DAW Software as stable as possible without having Stability issues. Anyways Thanks in advance I can't wait to hear your responses!

Veryy simple. So im trying to build a desktop for my gf and I saw a triple channel memory kit on sale anddd from what I hear putting all into 3/4 dual channel sockets is a waste. Howeve, what if I were to get 2 triple chanel kits, and take 4/ 6 for her, would that work. Im only asking bc "they say" the memory doesnt constitute the channel its being out into... so it should be fine yes? Its 3x2gb pc12800 (1600mhz) so getting a 2nd kit would get the 8gb. Thanks everyone

Hey Y'all, So after spending my paycheck on amazon, my computer crashed... And 4 hours later i have determined that i have 2 dead sticks of RAM. Sooo needless to say my win 7 pc is next to useless with 2gbs of RAM. I am about to buy some cheap ram, but before i do i want to know if there is a way to determine whether the issue was the ram itself or the memory controller. Only reason i ask is because this board is 4 years old, and for the first 2 it was moderately overclocked, and has been stressed all of its life. And my other question is, what do y'all recomend in the DDR3 RAM department. The sticks that just died were G Skill Pi 1600 mhz. I'm not interested in overclocking at this point, just solid and bang for the buck. Thanks, Speed

New Upgrade. A few Blue LED fans to keep everything running extra cool in my PC brah. Then I get another upgrade 2. It's called Memory. The exciting thing, is sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't This time, the Corsair Vengeance 4GB Stick of DDR3 1600 9-9-9 performed its vengeance on me, by not working. I pulled out both sticks of G.Skill and Preceded 2 go through the EACH individual slot 2 test the memory, and still nothing. The computer starts, beeps at me 4 times, and says black screen of death is all you get. Do your Chores Choji

Hi, Am a newbie to modding in general (and hope that this question has been posted in the correct forum sub-category) and would like to ask whether anyone knows technical specifications and pinout details for the following please? This was attached to a DDR2 Module (possibly via a heat-spreader - cannot recall for certain) however whether this was fitted at the factory I'm not sure (at a guess it wasn't). Apologies for the quality of the photo. No idea whether this is programmable or whether the LEDs illuminate randomly. Thank you for any help.

So the last few days my rig has been running kinda slow. My first thought was that it has been caused by not shutting down in a while. So i rebooted, and the problem persists. So i brought up task manager and discovered that nvtray.exe was using almost 1GB of RAM! It was committing somewhere between 6 and 7 hundred thousand kb and working about 250,000, with 200,000 private reserved. Google suggests that this is the nVidia driver or some such thing, but i doubt it should be using this much RAM. Any ideas on what this is and/or how i should deal with it? Thanks, Speed
