  1. Hello again guys

I got my Dark Knight today. I installed it and it fits perfectly. It took me about 30-50mins to get it all installed and up and running coz i had to take the motherboard out but really it can be done a lot quicker than that. Very simple installation and would definatly recommend as my CPU temps are:

    Previously with stoc

    idle: 30

    load: 45

    Now

    idle: 20

    Load: 30

Heres are some pics of it installed:

Thanks for all your help guys, i ended up with a good HSF because of all you!

    :D:D:D:D

  2. Well i received my sunbeam core contact freezer today and just my luck it doesnt fit on my board.

When i installed the bracket i noticed that the clips were touching parts on the board and when i tried to put the heat sink on it was not possible. I tried it so the fan was facing upwards and side wards but either way the bracket will not allow it. I would have to mod my board a bit and i dont really wanna do that.

If you look at this pic you can see the blue parts which say 'gigabyte' and 'ultra durable', their the parts that get in the way:

    Gigabyte EP45-UD3R

I did a bit of research on the net and ive found out that im not the only one with this problem and i would have to remove and bend parts on the board to fit it on.

Im RMAing it now and im gona go for this HSF:

    Dark Knight

    What do you guys think?!?

  3. Hello again guys

Ive ordered the sunbeam core contact freezer and should be here soon. I getting TX-2 thermal paste with the HSF for free, do you think i should use it over arctic sliver 5?

Ive read a lot of reviews and the TX-2 seems to be just as good but im not sure because ive always used AS5 and its done well for me.

  4. Thanks guys

I like the look of the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer, it has good stats for the price. Also the tuniq tower is a bit hard to get a hold of in th UK, i was gona get it from ebay!

Also what about zalman coolers are they any good for the Q9550? I had one in my last system and it was great so i wouldnt mind getting another one.

  5. I just got the D60 with 18 - 55m lens and ive found it to be really good. If you dont have the money to go for a D90 then this is a good starting point. Its very easy to use and you can get it goiing almost as soon as you take it out of the box. All the reviews i saw and shops i went into said that it is a good entry level camera.

Just figure out how much you want to spend and then buy a nikon or cannon to match that amount. The cannon EOS1000 is about the same price as the D60 so you might find it hard trying to decide between cannon and nikon.

Also remember when you buy a camera you're gona want to buy good memory cards with high write speeds and you'll probably want other accessories so try to price that all in as well.

  6. Thanks guys,

Im definatly gona go with the Q9550 now, im just a bit torn between the 4850x2 and a 260. I guess my main problem is ive always gone for nvidia and ive never had ati. I found a good evga 260 card as well now:

    896MB EVGA GTX 260 SSC, 2304MHz GDDR3, 55nm GPU 675MHz, 216Cores, 2x DL DVI-I/ HDTV

I found out the orginal BFG card i posted earlier runs really hot and didnt have the greatest reviews.

What would you guys personally go for between this EVGA 260 and the 485x2 i posted before based on stock and OC ability?!?

Thanks for all your help by the way, ive been out of all the hardware side of things for about a year and everythings changed lol.

  7. Thanks for the reply guys.

I'll go for the Q6600 then, but im just having a look at my finances at the moment and i might get the Q9550 if i can.

I guess i might go for the GTX 280 coz the price differences is only small.

Im gona overclock the CPU definatly but i would rather not overclock the GPU coz im not really that good at getting a good balance with them.

  8. Hi guys, havent been on for a while.

Im planning on building a new computer for gaming. I havent built a computer for a long while so im finding it a bit difficult finding a setup i want. So far ive come up with these parts:

    Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R, iP45 Express, S 775, PCI-E 2.0x16, DDR2 1066/667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX

    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500(1066), 240Pin, NonECC Unbuffered, CAS 5, EPP TWIN2X4096-8500C5D

    625W Enermax PRO82+ EPR625AWT Quad PCI-E Rail, ATX12v 2.3 , 88% Eff, Dual, AirGuard, SafeGuard

Tell me if these parts are any good!

Also i need help choosing a cpu and graphics card. These are the parts i can afford:

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 45nm, Yorkfield Core, S775, 2.50GHz, 1333MHz, 4MB Cache, 7.5x Core Ratio, Retail -

  9. Ive got a Maxtor onetouch III 300GB drive and ive tried to use it on vista x64 and it doesnt seem to recognise it. Ive check on maxtors website but they are useless.

Do any of you know if this is compatible or not?!?

    Thanks for any help!

  10. I just had a look at the GT's and they are alot better than i realised. For the money they are great cards but i was reading that they dont support DX10.1. People were saying that it doesnt run on vista or something like that. I dont know how true that is. Also the other thing is that it doesnt run games in really high resolutions and i need it to run in very high res!

I should have added that im gona be playing this on a HD 32" TV at 1920x1080! So im gona need a powerful card to run that! Also roughly when are the new series cards coming out?!?

Thanks hardnrg, that actually does make sense to me now, but the sites dont tell me that info so i guess im gona have to search around!

    Also the E660 is

  11. Hi everyone,

Im about to buy a new pc and im basing it round a 8800gtx! Here are the parts that ive decided to go for and i was just wondering what you all think!

XFX 8800GTX, Extreme, Mem 1900 MHz, GPU 600 MHz

    Core 2 E6600

    Asus P5N-E SLI NF650i SLi

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo...roductID=402849

    620W Enermax Liberty Modular Series

    Vista Ultimate 64

The RAM is the main thing im thinking about because when you look at the specs of RAM it all looks the same.I was wondering if i should go for 4GB but i dont know if that is really needed! If you can see anything better on that site tell me coz i cant tell!

Also the CPU, ive decided to go for this coz my friend has the same and we OC'd it to 3.2ghz so im thinking that it might not be worth going for the E6850 or Q6600!

To give you an idea of what im going for, here are the games that im currently planning to play:

Timeshift, Call of duty 4, Unreal 3, F.E.A.R, Crysis(not expecting to play on full graphics lol) .

    Thanks for any help!

  12. Its a competition between PS2 and SNES

ps2 - Tekkens, silent hills, resident evils, gran turismos and so much more.

SNES - Super mario cart(best game ever), street fighter, mortal combat etc.

Conclusion - PS2. I had that console since it came out and i still play it. Greatest console ever!

  13. Thanks for that. I guess i can but the only thing is that i have to make another partition on my ext HDD and format it into FAT32. tell you the truth i dont really need the space that bad yet but if i do i'll get it sorted.

    Thanks again!

  14. Im not sure if this has been answered, i looked but never fonud a thread.

I have a maxtor external HDD and i was wondering if its possible to link it to my xbox 360 so that i have a lot more extra space?!?

    Thanks for any help!

  15. :withstupid: When you get to the setup you can create a partition. I made my windows drive which will be c drive on yours as 30gb and the D drive as 160gb. Its very simple. just make sure that you read everything on the setup. It should say to create a partition press c(i think). Then just make sure you type the correct amount and it will create it ready to be formatted and installed on.
  16. Yeh that always happens but it shouldnt be losing so much. Ive got a 200gb SATA drive and ive got it partitioned into 2 drives and it comes to a total of 190gb. Just try and boot into the setup and try but i dont think it will except the SATA without the correct driver. i heard that xp never came with SATA drivers so they cant pick them up!

If you get problems do you have another computer to talk to us with?!?
