  1. Do you think a single HD4850 512mb can run a 24" monitor for gaming??
  2. Thanks! Well I changed it to 10.5 and now both the POST screen and CPU-Z say 2800.3Mhz woohoo! :thumbs-up: I feel so silly using my computer for the past couple months and it not even running at stock speed. Never had that problem before with other computers I've built. Well thanks to everyone for the help, I really appreciate it!
  3. Hey all thanks for the help! Well my CPU-Z is version 1.51 which looks to be the newest one. Also when I boot up it says 2.2Ghz 266mhz x 8.5. So im gonna try changing it to 10.5 and see what happens. Am I going to need to change voltage?? It is set on Auto, I don't mess with that stuff.
  4. Hey I think I found it in the BIOS options. CPU-Z now reads 2.2Ghz all the time. But that still isn't 2.8Ghz. I think it's because of the FSB being at 266 instead of 1066 right? I bought Patriot ram rated at 1066mhz. Model Brand Patriot Series Extreme Performance Model PDC24G8500ELKR2 Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Tech Spec Capacity 4GB (2 x 2GB) Speed DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Cas Latency 5 Timing 5-5-5-15 Voltage 2.1V Heat Spreader Yes But CPU-Z reads this: How do I change the FSB speed? 2267.8 MHz (8.5 x 266.7 MHz) Rated Bus speed 1066.8 MHz
  5. Hey thanks for the reply! Well I turned on some more programs and it kept going from 1.6 to 2.2 repeatedly. Is there any way to turn off the power savings?
  6. I recently put together a computer and I don't think the processor is going as fast as it should. This is what it says in CPU-Z. I don't overclock so I'm nervous about changing any setting. The cpu I bought was supposed to be a dual core 2.8GHZ processor. If i'm reading this right it is only going at 1.6Ghz???? How do I make it go the speed it should? I am using the stock cooler FYI. 7. Well I have some questions about getting an LCD widescreen monitor. First, anyone know if an EVGA 7800GT is capable of widescreen resolutions (1680x1050)? I tried looking up the info on my properties screen but that res wasnt listed (tho maybe its because im using a 4:3 monitor right now). Second, is about games. How do I get games to run in that res?? Im also worried about poor performance by running a weird res. Anyone have this happen? And what about dead pixels? I dont wanna pay money and get screwed by dead pixels. Lastly, what are the best makers of LCD's?

Hello. I am putting my new computer together this weekend and I bought X3 Reunion and didnt know it used starfoce copy protection. I read on their forums its a huge hassle to work with that program. What do you all think about starforce? Will it screw up other games or make my computer run slower? Im hesitant to install the game now because of starforce. I dont want my brand new computer to run bad because of this program or have my hardware damaged(I read that really happened). Thing is I got the game from Best Buy and I bet they wont let me return it cause its opened. It was never installed but they wont care....
  9. Hello all. I am buying this PSU: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT ATX12V 500W Power Supply 90V~265V (Auto Adjusted) UL, cUL, TUV, CB - Retail Now it says it has modular cables. 2 devices on 1 cable? Should I really do that? Im also getting a 7800gt, im assuming that shouldnt share anything right? Can someone tell me if I should be sharing cables with multiple devices?
  10. ohh whew thank god! I thought I was gonna have to wait another month to buy ram... whew! Thanks guys! (I will be switching the corsair for OCz sometime soon) :-)
  11. Ok I bought an Asus A8N-SLI mobo and the Qualified Vendors List doesnt list my corsair ram on it. My ram is TwinX1024-3200LLPRO. Does that mean that my ram wont work at all in this mobo??
  12. According to CPU-Z my processor's voltage is 1.67. Is that the normal voltage it should have?? I thought it was supposed to be lower.
  13. oops your right I was looking at over voltage protection... ok well then if 22A is enough then I will go with that one if it worked really well for you. thanks!
  14. hmm im really confused by this dual rail stuff... the one I chose has a +12V of 36A but the one you chose is +12V 13.4~15.6V... how can that be strong enough for a 7800gt?? And what happens when I go SLI?
  15. Thanks for the replies! My UPS is by a company called APC. I think I bought it in either Best Buy or CompUsa I dont remember. Its been a couple years
