  1. Thanks. Thats what I was afraid of. lol. Maybe I will just wait until tomorrow then. And I love the Asplode!
  2. I am not sure you understand. I am thinking about firing it up without the CPU heatsink/fan.
  3. Hey everyone, I got all my parts except for the water cooler and screen. I should get them both tomorrow. I am going to go ahead and build my computer tonight and then put the water cooler in tomorrow. Does anyone know if I can turn on my computer tonight without the stock fan just to see if everything post tonight. I dont think I am going to do it but I just wanted to know if it would burn up that fast. I cant see as it would being it would only be on for a matter of seconds.
  4. This is not the best video but he does tell you what to buy and kinda shows you how to do it. Click
  5. PS3 Wi-Fi Antenna. PS3 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Board,PS3 Slim Antennas, PS3 Teardown PS3 Slim Teardown Not sure were to get better parts but at least this should help you tear it apart.
  6. Look, I killed the thread with that one.
  7. You would think so but even if you can run it you would have to lower the settings or it might crash. Plus it would run really slowly. My last computer would run games like TF2 at the highest settings but Minecraft would run like crap if I put it at the high end graphics and it would sometimes crash.
  8. I have seen this show a couple of times and while I am not a big fan it does have its good points. It is at times very funny. My favorite if I had one would be .
  9. @ccokeman, Thanks, I am looking forward to it. Its always great to save money. I was impressed that almost everything was the same price at newegg and the other tech sites. Last time I built a computer I had to use Pricegrabber to find all the best deals. This meant that everything was from different vendors and everything arrived at different dates. So far newegg is good in my book. BTW, I did not mean to start a war about the 7950 manufacturers in crossfire mode. I just had no idea. Last time I built a computer it was when crossfire and SLI were still new.
  10. I was home schooled by my mother who decided to do it her own way. Lets just say I learned to stop asking so many questions. Every time I asked something my father would make me go write a report about it. So unfortunately I don't have a 3.8 GPA. I do however have a GED. Not that a GED is going to get me into Georgetown. lol
  11. Thanks. I had a feeling that it wouldn't work. But thats ok, Gigabyte is still a good company.
  12. Well guys I finally bought my parts. Its been driving me crazy trying to make sure that I bought the right parts for the right price. I ended up changing 3 things because the instant rebates changed and also the XFX Double D Black Edition 7950 was out of stock so I bought the GIGABYTE GV-R795WF3-3GD Radeon HD 7950 instead. Anyone know if I can run cross fire with a 7950 Gigabyte and a 7950 XFX or do I have to stay with the same manufacturer. I changed the power supply to the SeaSonic X-1250 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply. I saved around $40 on that and its better then the previous one. I also changed the monitor from Asus to the PLANAR PX2710MW Black 27" Full HD HDMI WideScreen LCD Monitor w/Speakers Because it had a $40 off promo plus it was previously listed at $399.99. I got it for $239.99. It should all arrive around Tuesday. I cant wait! I also found a really nice computer chair that was $300 and when I went to the store to buy it they had it on sale for $200. So I got to stay on budget with that at least. All the parts, water cooling, case, monitor, and chair came to around $2560 with out mail in rebates. Just a bit more then the 2k budget but then again I hadn't budgeted for a Chair or Monitor. So if you take those away then you come close to 2k. Can anyone say ouch? Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that help picking out the parts and helping me get the most out of my $$. I look forward to showing you all pics when I build it.
  13. Thanks everyone for your help. I knew that a few people at this site would have an idea of how to go about this. You have all given me a lot to think about and I look forward to exploring more. Its amazing how many sites there are out there that are SCAMS. Its sad really. We all work hard for our money only to have it striped away by these fake courses that say they will teach you everything to start your own business in this field but they don't even prepare you for any Certs or Degrees. Oh and I looked up Pheonix and ITTech. They want around $40k for a 2 year degree that will get you a job making what like $13-15 an hour. How are you supposed to pay that back?
  14. I have been dealing with the same thing on the computer I am barrowing. If I could I would do a total wipe and reinstall windows.
  15. I know Ctrl C. Does that count? lol
  16. Thats what I thought. I just wish we had one close by. I will look into getting a degree online but I worry that they are ripoffs. Does anyone know of a decent place to get it?
  17. Ok so I have been doing some research on what Certs or Degrees to get. The only Degree that is offered in my area is Computer Science. At first it sounds good until I read everything else it wants you to learn. Hardly any of it has to do with computers at all. Computer Science Emphasis Associate of Science Degree Required General Education Courses (36-38 credits) CM101 English Composition I ...................................................3 CM102 English Composition II ..................................................3 CM115 Public Speaking ...............................................................3 Fine Arts Elective .................................................................................3 Literature, Philosophy or History Elective ........................................3 MA111 College Algebra ...............................................................3 SS101 General Psychology ........................................................3 HE141/SS105 Human Growth & Development ...............................3 Biological Science Lab Course ........................................................ 4-5 Physical Science Lab Course ........................................................... 4-5 Social Science Elective .........................................................................3 Physical Education Elective ................................................................1 Required Education Courses (16 credits) ED100 Introduction to Education .............................................3 ED101 Introduction to Education Practicum ..........................1 MA114 Elementary Statistics .......................................................3 CS108 Computer Applications ..................................................3 CS104 Introduction to Web Site Design...................................3 CS100 Introduction to Computer Science ...............................3 Electives (10 credits) Two Humanities Electives ..................................................................6 Social Science Elective ........................................................................3 CS175 Computer Science I .........................................................4 CS250 Advanced Network Administration .............................2 CS240 Networking Technologies I ............................................4 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I cant understand how thats going to help me in the field other then the basics. They do have more classes that I can add on later but it seems to be such a waist of time to learn about Introduction to Education (What the hell is that?) when I could actually learn about my field. So then I started looking at Certs. Unfortunitly I am going to have to study online seeing as I live in the middle of NOWHERE. I was thinking of getting the A+ Cert and the MCITP Cert. Does anyone have any advice as to if that is enough for me to get a good job?
  18. Not sure where to put this. I love computers. I love working on them, solving there problems, working out there kinks, Building is fun, and I love finding and solving all the mysteries of computers. My question is how do you get a job working on computers? What Certs or Degrees do I need? Can I get a job without them? How much would I be looking to make? Not that making tons of money is the priority. It is something I have always been interested in but living in the middle of nowhere its not like there's a Geek Squad anywhere close. I know there are company's that hire people to go to peoples homes and fix there computers but I don't know who they are.
