  1. I picked up a 670 a couple of weeks ago and it's been a hell of a performer so far. Runs nice and cool too, around 65 degrees under load in my case. Fans can get a little bit loud but it's more than tolerable, especially given the performance.
  2. So I just got my new EVGA 670 superclocked today, and it runs Diablo 3 beautifully, of course. I decided to download 3D Mark 11 Basic and have a go. The report came back with my core clock at 705MHz but the specs on the card have it at 967MHz (1046MHz when boosted). Am I just reading this wrong?
  3. Newegg has an EVGA GTX550 Ti for $135, $115 after rebate. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130625
  4. I've got the EVGA Superclocked GTX670 coming tomorrow. Upgrading from HD3000 graphics, lol. Can't wait to test it out on Diablo III and anything else I decide to pick up for my rig now that it's finally complete.
  5. I've got my GTX670 on the way. I picked up the EVGA Superclocked. Can't until it gets here.
  6. YES! I have a buddy who's got a newegg premium account and helped me out. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130783 This'll be showing up on Tuesday, just in time for Diablo III. WOOT!
  7. I don't know if the TT article was authentic or not (not much reason to believe it wasn't), but if it is, then I'm holding out for the GTX670. It outstrips the 580 by such a wide margin that it seems silly to bother with a 560 Ti 448 or a 570 at this point.
  8. Whatever it is, I'll take one. If the TT GTX670 review is to be believed, the stats are perfect for me.
  9. Well, I do want to get something that can take on more taxing games in the near future. I'm torn because the pricing on the GTX570 right now is very tempting, but there are a hell of alot more cores on a GTX660, if the specs are to be believed. If it comes out around the $350-$400 mark, I'm not going to be happy at all should I decided to spend now. There just isn't any info out there as to a possible release window and it's a little frustrating. You'd think they'd at least hint at something, to generate hype.
  10. Diablo III is just around the corner and is the sole reason I built a new gaming rig. I've held off on getting a video card, instead using the HD3000 integrated on the i5 2500K. The wait for an announcement on the GTX660 or 670 is killing me. I may just put off playing D3 until I can pick one of those up but I have gamers OCD. OH, THE HUMANITY!
  11. Did you check Microcenter? I got my i5 2500K for $180, which was $50 less than newegg. At the time, the i7 2700K was under $300. Not sure why you'd bother with the i7 2600K at that price point.
  12. Wow, those numbers are very impressive. I've held off on getting a card because I'm waiting for Diablo III to drop. Now that I've seen the specs, I may be willing to spend a little extra on a 600 series card instead of buying a 500 series. Diablo isn't supposed to be out until early summer (estimate), and I would guess Keplar will have been out of a little bit at that point. This is good news for me.
  13. $50 cheaper than it was a week ago. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127582
  14. Fans of Super Smash Bros especially, check this out, rofl! This dude does some really good work. He's got a couple of other videos too, but they are decidedly less kid friendly (no swearing or nudity, but relatively gory).
  15. I haven't actually gotten around to buying a card yet. The one in my sig is just what I was considering. Wife moved out recently so I've got to finish buying furniture first, lol.
  16. So I was just looking at the 6000 series cards on newegg, and they're almost non-existant. "Not surprising", I tell myself, "given that the 7000 series is out now". So I decide to check out the 7000 series. Wow. So your choices are to spend about $550 for a 7970 or $450 for a 7950, or you can buy a 7770 for $160. What happened? Now I'm definitely going to wait until Keplar to even consider buying a card.
  17. I was having speed issues too with my new Asus Black Diamond paired with a D-Link DGL-4500. I couldn't get past 114ish Mbps even on 5Ghz. Thanks to the tomshardware link posted, I was able to figure out that I had to switch to 20/40Mhz which sent my reported speeds up to the 300Mbps mark, though it tapered back down to the low 200s. Still, much better than the initial report. Thanks for that!
  18. I picked up an Asus Black Diamond today and from what I can tell so far, there is no difference between this and a wired connection. Obviously, wired is preferable, but from a practical standpoint (gaming aside; haven't tried it yet), the speed on this thing is as good as any wired connection. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320089
  19. I just bought a new couch, chair, and bed. Being a bachelor again means I get to design MY place, MY way. http://www.slumberland.com/furniture/products/harrison-collection---chocolate-sofa__3850038 http://www.slumberland.com/furniture/products/harrison-collection---chocolate-chair__3850023 http://www.slumberland.com/furniture/products/parsons-collection---queen-bedstead__ptop016
  20. I have a Motorola Surfboard that's about 8 years old now. Still works great, no problems to report. Still, I'm wondering if upgrading would make a noticable improvement to internet speeds. I pay for 12Mbps download but I often get 20+, and upload speed past 2Mbps isn't uncommon. Except for the inexhorable call of new tech, is there any reason why I should upgrade to a newer Docsis 3.0 modem?
  21. There are a lot of animals that are near as smart as humans but for some reason, we think we're superior to the degree that we can kill, maim, or enslave them at will. Packs of wolves, pods of whales and dolphins, even some birds; all have behaviors that mimic that of human behavior. Hell, apes are our closest non-human relatives, with all the emotional scope of the most dramatic homo sapien, and yet we still treat them like common lab rats. If there is any justice in this world, humans will find a way to kill themselves off while sparing the animal population. Or aliens, cuz I'm cool with that too.
  22. I'm crying from laughing at that video. Must have caught me in one of my many goofy moods. I put the first Borderlands in my top 5 favorites of all time (going back to Atari 2600 and the hundred of games I've played between then and now). This is going to be incredible. GET READY TO JOY PUKE YOUR FACE OFF!
  23. I realize there's a decent chance that it could be fake, but sometimes I like to believe in my heart of hearts that everything is not always an evil illusion designed to influence my purchasing decisions. That being said, I do like that card a lot, so my vision may have been slightly blurred in this case. Possibly blinded.
  24. I'm very happy with my Mushkin 120GB Chronos. Computer boots to login in about 10 seconds and shuts down in 4. Hard to complain. Plus, it's an American company and this drive is arguably the most reliable of all of them. Newegg is out of them (the Deluxe costs $40 more), but Amazon has a few left. http://www.amazon.com/Mushkin-Chronos-2-5-Inch-Solid-MKNSSDCR120GB/dp/B005CGFU4I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329834665&sr=8-1
  25. This is the card I'm looking at buying. I was looking at reviews and did a filter for all reviews from the last 2 weeks. Only 4 came up, but all 5 star and the top one apparently is from Valve. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-127-582&SortField=3&SummaryType=1&Pagesize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=%28keywords%29&Page=1&RandomID=64925173115817720120216145731
