    Folding?

What is folding? Kinda new to overclocking...
  2. My HDDs temp has reached as high as 35C, is this to hot. If it is how do you suggest I go about cooling it? Currently I have 2 Antec 120mm Dual ball case fans cooling the insides. Oh yea the HDD is a 120GB Cuda Seagate.
  3. I have verizon DSL and am currently running it in this config. Out of wall to DSL modem, out of modem to hub, one line out of hub to ethernet card, one line out to Netgear Wireless router. My computer is working fine, the computer working off router does not connect to the internet. Any help would be awesome.
  4. Well I did it, it was much easier and less scary then I expected.
  5. Its a stock 9200, I never overclocked it. I think it works great, never had any slow downs or degradation. It would play Deus Ex Invisible War on High settings. I only upgraded to the 9600 cause they had an awesome deal at CompUSA. No additional cooling, just the heatsink that came with the card. I live in Virginia Beach, VA. And I have no clue what heatware is.
  6. Can someone tell me what this means? I get it when I try to start a game of Star Fleet Command 3, beta patched. It works fine on my friends AMD puter, and it worked fine on my old P2 and P3 systems. Unhandled Exception! in Version 1.01 Beta 2 Build 500 SFC3.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module d3d8.dll at 001B:02B782F0 EAX=00000000 EBX=000003D4 ECX=0BA8168C EDX=0149C000 ESI=00000400 EDI=014982C0 EBP=000003FA ESP=0012FBE8 EIP=02B782F0 FLG=00090293 CS=001B DS=0023 SS=0023 ES=0023 FS=003B GS=0000 001B:02B782F0 (0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000) d3d8.dll
  7. I am selling a Sapphire Radeon 9200 Atlantis, 128MB DDR memroy, DVI connector, and S-Video/composite connector AGP2x 4x 8x. It was the card I bought for this system before I upgraded to the 9600. It was in my system for 3 weeks and has been boxed up for 1 so far. Asking price: $35.00 plus S&H I also have a 2.1 speaker system made by Accoustic Authority. 110 watts peak power and the sub is front firing. Asking price: $28.00 plus S&H
  8. I want to update my BIOS. However, I have never done it before and I know that if it screws up I lose my board. I was @ Asus homepage and was reading about the latest BIOS update and this is what it said. 1. Do not use old version Afudos.exe to flash BIOS.Must use new Afudos.exe which is included in zip file to flash BIOS. 2. Using ASUSLiveUpdate to flash BIOS,you need to upgrade ASUSLiveupdate to v 5.22.02 or later before flash BIOS. 3. Please do not use Ezflash for updating this BIOS. 4. Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://www.asus.com.tw/support/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx 5. Fix extended F8 boot menu cannot list all devices if more than one removable device are installed. 6. Mute beep sound for USB device plug-in/plug-out. 7. Revise extended memory size. 8. Revise Ultra DMA Mode max limit. 9. Revise dual/single channel in the post screen when set Standard/Turbo in the performance mode. 10. Modify the setting of VIA VT6410 and change boot ROM to rev. 2.11. I am sad to say I have no idea what it means by Asus Live update, nor do I know how to update it or where to find it in the first place. Any help would be wonderful!!
  9. Nevermind any way, I could not get it to run Prime95 without reporting an error by test 6 at 3.6GHz . Upped the VCore to 1.800 on my 2.8 but no luck. Guess I am stuck at 3.5.
  10. Whats the stock VCore voltage of a 3.6Ghz with HT?
  11. Heres what the numbers are labeled as in my BIOS. First number will be stock settings second will be what I changed em to. DRAM Latency: 2.5, 2 DRAM Precharge: 4, 3 DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay: 4, 3 DRAM Precharge Delay: 8, 7 DRAM Burst Length: 8, 8
  12. Wish I had found this website before I bought my RAM. At the time everyone told me Kingston was the best, and to be honest I cant complain but oh well. Anyway I cant seem to get the timings right and to be honest again, I really dont know that much about changing the timings. I tried one set someone had recommended. I noticed in my BIOS it had 5 figures to mess with while most ppl post 4. Anyway, the current settings are 2.5-4-4-8-8 and I tried to change to 2.5-3-2-5-8. I have an Asus P4P800 mobo. 2.8GHz Pent 4 HT, o/ced to 3.5. Any suggestions? Oh yea I have Kingston HyperX PC3000 meant to buy 3200 *cries*
  13. This will turn into a long post. So I will get started now. First here are the two systems: My roommates AMD stystem: Asus A7N8X mobo AMD Athon 2600 XP+ 333FSB o/ced to 2.36GHz Onboard Audio Radeon 9200 Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM 8MB cache 4 Antec 80mm case fans Volcano 11 w/hs 400w Antec PSU 1.5 GB if DDR RAM, one gig in Dual channel 512MB not all Samsung PC2700 My Intel system: Asus P4P800 w/ Dual DDR Pentium 4 2.8GHz 800FSB and HT Tech o/ced to 3.5GHz Onboard Audio Radeon 9600 (had 9200) Seagate 120GB 7200RPM 8MB cache 2 Antec 120mm fans CoolerMaster Aero4 w/hs 400w Antec PSU with 2 fans 512MB Dual Channel DDR Kingston HyperX PC3000 (stupid me forgot to get 3200) According to PCMark04 my overall score was about 1700 higher then his with a max system score of 4794, and a max CPU score of 5287. His overall system score was 3416, and CPU was 3614 With Sandra CPU bench my score was 10245 Dhrystone and 4148/7063 Whetstone. His was 8415 Dhrystone and 3473 Whetstone. On one hand his computer opens Word/Outlook/Excel faster by maybe 1/4 of a second. While my system loads games and installs junk faster. With the HT I can also run more then one program much faster then he can. He would say he got a great deal for his computer and I would agree. He paid maybe $690 at CompUSA for case and all. While I paid $936 at newegg.com for everything(includes case), with overnight shipping. If I had gone to CompUSA to buy my computer I would have paid $1347. Bottom line is, and everyone knows this, it comes down to which would you rather have. Here is an interesting article from Forbes magizine. I only post this cause someone told me that AMD had plundered Intel in sales last year http://www.forbes.com/2003/09/15/cx_ah_0915mondaymatch.html
  14. I am not sure what my divider is at the moment. Nor am I sure my BIOS will allow me to fool with that. I am contemplating updating my BIOS but am a little afraid as I know it is ROM. I went to the ASUS website and downloaded the update but did not understand how to install it. Apparently it wants me to upgrade Asus Live update, and not use EZFlash. I'll see if I can find any other relevant numbers. Thank you!!
  15. hehe, I bent a CPU pin on my new P4. Thanks to my A+ Hardware course and the toolkit they gave me I was able to very gently put it back in place. Scared the bejesus outta me, but it works fine now.
  16. Hello all!! First post on these forums. I just bought my new computer and would like to list the specs along with what I have already done to it. Mobo: Asus P4P800 CPU: Pent 4 2.8GHz @ 800FSB RAM: 2 Kingston HyperX PC3000 256mb in dual channel (I know I kicked myself for buying a step lower then what my system would run, what hurts most if I found twice the RAM and it was PC3200 same brand for the same price) HDD: Seagate 120GB PCU: Antec 400W with dual fans Case Fans: 2 Antec 120mm Dual ball CPU Fan and Heatsink: CoolerMaster Aero 4 CDRW: Asus 52/32/52 Graphics: Radeon 9600 So far I have overclocked the thing from 2.8 to 3.52 and it ran Prime95 for 8 hours before I was convinced it was stable. However I tried to change the latency of the RAM to 2.5-3-2-5-8 and the system would not boot up. I know I bought the wrong RAM, what other timings should I try with the RAM? My CPU typically runs between 81-95F but it was as high as 106F during Prime95. Any suggestions?
