  1. Going with my gut and I wanted to upgrade graphics one way or another I ordered a evga 1660 ti and installed it.

Everything is working normally.  Decent upgrade for far cheaper than I spent on my original GTX 780 sc.  Sad to see her go but 7 years ain't bad.  Longer than most marriages.  :)

Thanks all very much for their input.

  2. I was playing DBZ Kakarot earlier and during a cuts scene using game engine my computer locked up no response.  Manually restarted my computer and it booted into 800x600 resolution with some non moving blue lines and dots.  Restarted it again and it booted to normal resolution minus the blue lines and dots.  Tried to start the game again and as soon as game engine began rendering my computer froze again.

Reinstalled graphics driver cleanly and the same thing happened when trying to play the game.  Reset windows, reinstalled driver, steam, and game, and the same thing happened. Crash also happens when starting Ace combat 7 which is installed on another driver.  So far no games will launch.

Rig is older a 2013 build main specs:

    Asus ROG Hero VI Maximus

    16GB Corsair RAM

    Intel i5 4670k series

    EVGA 780 GTX superclocked

Windows, steam , and game installed on older Samsung Pro 256MB SSD.

  3. I am building a new system this coming December, this link has the parts I intend on buying.  I currently own 1 650ti boost, and plan on SLI with this build.

Im trying to decide between two coolers.  I have yet to decide whether I will overclock or not.  I hope the gear in that list will provide me with the option.

The first is the 212 Evo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

The second is Noctua NH-U14S: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608041

Ive read some pretty good reviews on the Noctua when used in rigs with substantial overclocks.  I've also read that the 212 is a decent cooler.  I have the ability to spend a few extra bucks on a good cooler.

  4. Here is my new build.  Im upgrading from an old Core 2 Duo E6600 system.  Im trying to keep it to around 1000 dollars.  The only part holding over from my old system to the new is an EVGA GTX650ti boost.

    Case: Cooler Master Storm Stryker

    Mobo: Asus Maximus VI GENE

PSU: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold

    CPU: Intel i5-4670k

    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaw 2x4GB PC1600

    HDD: WD Raptor 500GB

    Cooler: C.M. Hyper 212 EVO

    Thoughts appreciated.

  5. Would this computer with integrated graphics be good enough for my grandmother to play her facebook games? She plays Cafe World and Farmville mostly. This seems like a silly question but I've never used a computer with integrated graphics. She is currently using my pretty high end lap top since her old one died.

  6. My system specs are in my sig. I've had this problem for awhile and just got internet to my new house (way out in the sticks). The operating system is Vista Home Prem. 64 bit.

I turned the computer on and it booted to the windows loading screen, 2-3 scrolls later it shuts off, so I booted into safe mode...with no problems. Poked around and found no issues. After attempting to boot normally for about an hour I got tired of it, formatted the drive and attempted to install vista new. Well, once again as it finishes setup and starts loading vista 2-3 scrolls later the system just shuts down. I pulled ram, same issue. No beeps, no error codes, nothing. My initial thought is a hardware problem but I'm not sure. I no longer have an XP CD so reinstalling XP isnt an issue either. Any ideas?

  7. Meh, in the market for a new usb flash drive and was browsing newegg and found this little combo. Apparently I can get 2x1gb of GSkill RAM as a combo deal for around 100 bux with shipping. Currently I have 2GB of Cosair XMS in my system and its tempting to throw in another gig with this combo. Cant overclock currently cause I have an Intel mobo. Any comments on this RAM?

EDIT: Wow I'm a moron and forgot to put the link lol. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCombo...e=10&page=1

  8. There is a patch to make the bottom bar smaller in SupCom. Not to mention scrolling out with the mouse wheel if you need to see more of the battlefield. I also own both games. Its like comparing apples and oranges.

SupCom has a huge amount of strategy involved on online play. C&C 3 has a lot of tank rushers (read annoying). For a lot of varied gameplay I would go with SupCom, for a really cool campaign and quick multiplayer I'd go with C&C.

Note: If you do end up playing the single player campaign, and buy SupCom prepare to spend 1-3 hours per mission. As far as hardware this system plays it fine. My P4 2.8 system plays it well enough for 2v2 matches anything above def needs dual core and at least 2GB ram.

  9. Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work. Then, on a random basis to permit no advance warning, city blocks and stretches of suburban and rural areas would be cordoned off and searches carried out in every business, dwelling, and empty building. All firearms would be seized. The owners of weapons found in the searches would be prosecuted: $1,000 and one year in prison for each firearm.

Sounds like Germany pre WW2, SS squads anyone?

  10. To take reds example further, imagine a complete madman like we see at VA Tech, which isnt far from me. Or the Beltway snipers, again only about 45 minutes away. Now imagine one of these madmen runs into you local mall and starts shooting the place up. Hes not deterred by the fact that someone could be carrying. How many lives can be saved by someone who is legally carrying. Hell we've all read articles about people takings shots at trained police officers during traffic stops. Its not just about or enough to protect ourselves against robbery, battery, or the drunkard who stumbles into your house. Its about protecting ourselves from fanatics who only have one thing in mind, killing as many as they can. Though these instances are rare in the grand scheme of things, its still no reason to attempt to ban guns.

Its just to bad that when someone is killed by anything other then a gun, its the assailants fault and not the tool used to carry out the crime. The fact is that EVIL DOERS will always exist, and it should always be our right to do something to stop it. I'm not talking about vigilanties, but the sad fact is, is that police are a reactionary force in most crimes. The simple fact is that a straight gun ban does not work. Look at DC, Chicago, and many other areas. Anywhere there is a high populace and a strict no gun policy crime and murder will be high.

And about religion, look past the actual words and see. "Those who live by the sword die by the sword." Those who look to hurt or maim someone will die by the same means. "Turn the other cheek." In the instance of Jesus being struck, there was more to be gained by not striking back. Check out Sampson, the way Israel was formed, and even the 7 day war. There are times where stopping violence with force is the only way.

I know this is a crass saying but it is one of my favorite; "My 9mm is faster then your 911."

  11. They zip tied some wires and the such. Apparently the problem didnt occur until he played CS:S and it crashed. Now lines at post screen, and the first screen of installing Vista. Looks like Vista is installing on it now. I'm gonna try swapping out his 7800GT and put my X1800 in and see what happens. Seems to only do it where there are black backgrounds.

Update: Well it seems the vid card is going bad. I threw my card in and reinstalled vista no problem.

  12. Its nervous energy walk him or play with him for 20-30 mins before you leave home. Also a good sign of seperation anxiety, check out Ceasar Millan's website. Hes a dog psychologist, he also has a show on National Geographic channel called "Dog Whisperer". Its not a bs show and theres no animal violence like you see on Animal planets animal cops or w/e it is. Reading and practicing his habits helped me with my Black Lab.
