  1. Junpus DX1 Thermal Paste:

    64969938.jpg

Thermal paste has come a long way since the days of the old stock OEM white gloop, with companies striving to offer the best thermal interface we are seeing more advanced compounds all the time.

Enter Junpus, a new comer on the western thermal scene, JunPus where actually established in 1978 as a clothing manufacturer but in 2003 set their main focus on the thermal industry. Fast forward another 10 years and to the release of JP

  2. So I have had my Danger Den Torture Rack for nearly a year now and I still love it. But after a recent routine loop clean decided it would be nice to have a separate “Rack” if you would for all my water cooling gear, Freeing up some off the space for Sub-Zero runs. I quickly jumped online to price some up but was amazed by the lack of products to choose from in the external Rad Box department.

    p1000700medium.jpg

So this is how it looked with all the water gear on her.

However I did find some that appeared very flimsy and extremely overpriced. So was born the idea time for a build. With 30 old Beige cases sitting in my shed I have a few options. (I used to buy the PC’s whole just to strip em for CPU’s) My first choice was an old HP Pavilion but it just didn’t have the right amounts of 5.25 bays. So my second choice was this extremely ugly old ACER.

    p1000986medium.jpg

    You Ugly..........

Now before I get into the mod I will fill you in on a few details. This box will have mounting for 1x 360/480, 3x 240’s and a 120/140 Radiators. It will also have an independent power supply for the pump, Fans, Fan controller and inline water temp probes. This will involve rigging up a PSU mod which are always fun.

    p1000987medium.jpg

    Good Advice Derp!

So after picking out my case I got to measuring and cutting some holes for Rads. These are pretty rough cuts but will get to cleaning them up later. So far I have cut out the 120/140 front panel mount, 1 of the internal 240 mount holes and I started to cut a window in the side 5.25 bays for a “Res” window.

    p1000993medium.jpg

One of the Back 240’s cut.

    p1000994medium.jpg

    Rough front Venting cut.

    Inside

    p1000996medium.jpg

    Reservoir Window. Friggin awful cut!

So that’s pretty much it for now. Still deciding on colours and finishes. I’m thinking ICY White with blood splatter around the fan areas but still not positive. A few people have suggested Di-Noc but it’s been done to death lately. Also not sure on Sleeving colour yet . Probably try to get some MNPCTech grills too. More to come soon hopefully.

FYI- sorry took so long to get Pics and summary up that terrible thing called life got in the way!

    UPDATE 2

Haven't really done much more on this build yet been flat out with work and studies but thought I would throw up a few of the newer pics.

So I drilled the holes for mounting up the rads and fans. Also had to check everything lined up.

    p1000042medium.jpg

    p1000040medium.jpg

    p1000041medium.jpg

So everything lined up and even had some room to shave a bit more metal of the 240 mount. I also wanted to still haven pull fans on the 240 Rad but also wanted to still have the case panels. I started to measure up the panel and cutting began.

    p1000043medium.jpg

Just checking the hole can't go too far. It needs to fit "Snug" with the fans and U channel moulding. Need to shave a bit more.

    p1000044medium.jpg

    Success! Fans fit perfect!

    p1000046medium.jpg

I decided to try my hand at a bit of dremel detailing. I decided on a Lightning Bolt simple and I have one in my company logo. This picture is just of the dremel cut no filing or clean up has been done yet.

    p1000051medium.jpg

The off cut I even managed to turn into a key chain lol.

So that’s it for updates this weekend, back to work tonight so won't get to work on this much for a few more days. I have decided on sleeving colours for the PSU that I need to mod and I have definitely decided on a "Blood Splatter" theme. After talking to some mates in the know I am also thinking about painting my Rads as they all look pretty scratched and dodgy.

Nearly all colours have now been picked, I think I will be using Black tube so discolouration isnt a problem. My PSU from the test rack will be used for this build and the Torture rack has just got a big PSU upgrade with a eVGA NEX1500 Classified. Thanks to the eVGA 13th Anniversary comps for this one!

    p1000034medium.jpg

Next few updates will hopefully see some colour added to this thing. Cheers for reading.

  4. Best FUN EVER!!!! Hit just over 5.2ghz on DICE . Think my psu holding me back coz im still waiting on my new one but other than that great :) Pot held up awsome only small temp swings even benching. constant 65- 70. Had a LOT of snow but boards was sealed up like ... Insert explicive metaphor here! Here some pics and il add benchs soon.

  5. Good eye Waco. I thought something was wrong there. And here it is I just remembered that was what killed your Lanparty board.

Nice build pwnograpy6. Looks excellent in there.

^^^^^ This made me feel much better at least I aint the only one to make this mistake + A nothing fried achievment for me.

  6. Now I see what your talking about. Apears I may have to fire my Tech advisors lol. At the moment temps are fine better than they have been . Il swap them over when my fingers recover there raw from comp fittings at the moment. It can be fixed..Cheers for pointing this out to me. I don't know whats up with asus heatsinks but apears they work better without them LOL.

  7. So after an Epic long day yesterday (think I got to bed round 4) I got it all done. All that is missing is my New lights. Run into a few problems with pump placement and the Koolance mosfet and NB just wouldn't co-operate but I got there in the end and am now running a fair bit cooler!

So first I stripped it all down and drain my rasa kit off. Took a few photos of the heatsinks and board because Iv never seen anyone cool this board so it may be of use to someone else.

    Last Pics Of Mobo....

    Back thermal tape on heatsink-

    P1000555.jpg

    Mobo Mosfets and NB

    P1000558.jpg

All pretty Stock Now for the Blocks....This was NOT fun at all. The heat Transfer plate I got was to long I knew this before I got it the Sabertooth 990 FX needs a 12.5mm Plate . oolance only had 14mm and 10.something. I thought longer was better than too short so got the 14. I measured before I bought and new id have the clearance problem was lack of mounting options.

I managed to rig it so the NB and Mosfet block used the same mounting posts. Originally I was going to use the Ek NB block but after building there is no way it would have fitted on.

    P1000560.jpg

    P1000561.jpg

Then we fitted on the EK Supreme Block which was easy as in comparrison to the Blocks id just done and the XSPC rasa id done in the past.

    P1000562.jpg

Skip forward a few more hours ,Relising around 10 PM that I had no rear mount options for my new RX120 Drilling into my case at around 10:30PM Neighbours love me. Nearly the same again around 11 for the pump but we will get to that.

Cables run tube run Leak testing and bleeding begins !!

    P1000565.jpg

    P1000563.jpg

In this next photo you can see how I mounted my pump and rear Rad notice the new Airplex 360 up top to. This is the fattest 360 I could fit in this without mod.I added another temp sensor too.

    P1000567.jpg

    P1000568.jpg

All closed up and Living to fight another day. Thanks for reading! (Il add pics of the new lighting when it arrives.)

  8. That is one MASSIVE block of copper. I look forward to your tests! I did notice in your other thread that you had a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 -- hopefully you won't be limited by the power delivery on the board. :P

Na I think that may have been my gigabyte 890gpa . Or might have been an empty box . I have a mess of 478 and 755 cpus to throw under this +30 :) . Also got some other random 939 754 etc stuff. Just going through the coarse of collecting some nicer mobos to bench. I will start a thread for my benching I think cause it's gonna be a few epic long runs across multi boards.

  9. Ok so finally got all my new watercooling gear together so I can start the rebuild of this thing. Got an absolute huge 2 days ahead with draining, stripping and full rebuilds of 2 water systems (This and my test rack is inheriting the rasa kit) + some sleeving.

Gonna add some more red either this week or next as Im ditching the UV as it doesn't throw out the light I want. Rebuild is gonna consist of all new loop which is also gonna cool the motherboard (As far as I know I will have the first watercooled sabertooth 990FX board.)

I have a 955 BE unclocked sitting there to so I may replace my 975 BE with that for some OC fun aswell. Here are a few pics of what has built up around my office for the rebuild just to give you a few clues.

Il keep everyone updated as work starts happening with some more pics aswell :)

  10. Just recieved my shiny new k|ngp|n F1 DARK , CPU pot. I can't believe the weight of this thing grabbed my box of the postman and nearly dropped it very cool ! Opened up the box which was packed great (Thanks Vince.) to a very very sexy looking pot. Been holding out on buying a pot for around 6 months and im really glad I waited for these there just awsome. Great job Vince keep up the great work. :)

    P1000531.jpg

Also picked up a Dominance Memory Cooler these things are also incredibly well made.

    P1000544.jpg

Hopefully if everything goes well Il have some benchys by late next week. I can't wait should be great fun. Will keep everyone posted on how it all goes as there aint to many F1 darks floating round yet. Hopefully il be live streaming but if not heaps of photos to come!

  11. Cheers peeps. I source most of my gear through GAM and PCCG and occasionally Perf PC for harder to find parts. My loop is under full reconstruction at the moment, as far as I know I will have the 1st watercooled sabertooth 990fx mobo by friday. Also ditching the rasa kit for custom mixed parts loop il post some pics up then :)

Is there anywhere in the forums I can start a bench results thread? Im about to go on a mass bender got new 370,462,478,755,754,and 939 mobos along with some kingpin gear on the way and 30+ mixed cpus.Is gonna be great!

  12. FINISHED...FOR NOW

Ok so everything is hooked up loop is filled and bled only thing to do is boot it all up... 1st boot perfect except for a really loud ticking I paniced and turned it all off. Turns out it was nothing major just one of my temp probes hitting a fan . A bit more thermal tape and we try again perfect 2nd boot nearly silent. Im sure you all know that feeling off a perfect boot after a long build is awsome.
