    System Freeze

That is about where I am at too. I already have the RMA number for the card. Now just have to deal with MSI for the board.

    System Freeze

As soon as I got through writing the last post, I sleep the pc. Power back up later and it tried to cycle in a couple of tines then BSOD again. Trying to get something to test the voltage now and make sure that I am seeing the right readings. Still a little unsure about what all of the readings are and if they are set to the correct voltages though?

I agree with you fully. The features on this mb are sweet but this bios mess and the live update5 garbage has made me rethink another one of their products. What graphical stress test would you recommend? The only thing I have used is 3Dmark and it does not run that long. I have Prime 95 and have ran it a couple of times for overnight and longer (like 22 1/2 hours) with no bad results but never with a graphics stress test too. I seem to be running BF3 all on ultra easily enough, not real sure about other benchmarking test either. You will have to excuses my ignorance, I only got my first computer since I was a kid about 3 years ago (as crazy as that is). So you can see that I am truly a newbie to technology from this century!!! Appreciate all of the help
  4. It is ridiculous. I am amazed and a lot jealous!

Just an update, this build may finally be working better. After finding the newest beta bios release on the MSI user's forum (E7681IMS.M5C) and updating it, I have not had another crash. This is only two or three hours of gaming but before there probably would have been a freeze by now. I also changed the hdd and optical drive to different ports and update the audio driver from realtek. Thanks for the help.

That is what I thought too, hopefully this fixes the issue and I can get on with things.

    Small problems with new build

The RMA for cash is about where I am at if it turns out the MB is faulty rather than the GPU. Crazy for such a large company to have so many issues with the most important parts. I bought this board for the features too but I originally had an ASUS board. Live and learn!

    Small problems with new build

I feel your pain. I went ahead an sent a RMA request for my GPU from my post. The solution you had about the DRAM v seemed to work for several hours but eventually froze the PC again. If you find a solution on the correct CPU voltage settings, I would love to hear it. I figure it has to be the MB or the GPU but what do I know. I am trying to figure out how to post pics of the BSODs and Event Viewer to show what the computer is saying?

I really appreciate all of the support here with this issue , very frustrating! I was thinking of reformatting the HDD as a last resort, so I felt adventurous and called Gigabyte's tech support. I told the guy all that I had so far done to troubleshoot and he said it was a hardware issue with the GPU and I needed to RMA it. I am going to try these other ideas before going through that process. To Sooth Sayer, I tried to reseat the CPU and heat sink close to the beginning, do you think I should try again? I am always worried that I will end up bending the pins or something. The idling temp on Core Temp is around 33C max and the temps under load were around 50C or so if memory serves me; this is why I did not think it was a temp issue. The HDD temp under Speed Fan was around 28-30 and the GPU temp in GPUZ stays around 55C with the GPU fans at 50%. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought all of these temps looked like everything was well cooled with good airflow? To peshewah, I tried doing what you said, enabled XMP, disabled Speed Spectrum, reset the voltage (had it bumped to 1.507) to 1.514. Thought it was good to go, played for a couple of hours and then, BSOD but without any error messages, just frozen blue screen with need to hard restart.

No, the RAM will run at 1600 without the XMP enabled. I just thought that was the better way to do it but I was not for sure. The memory is 4Gx2 Corsair CML8GX3M2A 1600C9B (according to the invoice from the Egg). In the BlueScreenView, these are the various BCCodes from the last few crashes: x000000116 x1000007e x000000f4

Thanks Think192 for the information. Since my last post, I have tried various things to see if the system would start working properly. I am an admitted newbie to this building process and as expected, the troubleshooting process too. I will try to list l what I have attempted so far and the results, if this all has been posted in the wrong topic section then I apologize and would willingly move it to the proper one with some guidance. I am at a loss that there have not been more responses to this post but maybe this does not happen as often as I assumed that it does. I will update and edit this after trying some of these things. So, looking at the BIOS, I will tell you what I am reading. If this sounds like I am looking at the wrong thing then let me know (total noob here!). I reset the CMOS with the Optimized Defaults affected. DRAM Frequency: 1333 Current CPU Core Voltage: 1.216 V Current CPU I/O Voltage: 1.040 V Current DRAM Voltage: 1.488 V I have the Integrated Graphics Devices set to PEG and no XFire enabled.

Yes, I am running everything stock (minus the RAM which has the XMP enabled in the BIOS from 1300 to 1600). So I ran the basic version of 3dMark 11 three times. The first I ran it with the demo too and it seemed fine, though the FPS on the screen seemed really low. It said I needed to update something in the program, so I went to the website and updated. The second time I ran the test only on the benchmarking. It rebooted my PC about 25 seconds later and the same when I tried to run it a third time. This basic is only in 720. Would this mean that I need to RMA my card to Gigabyte? It has never rebooted on its own, it just froze the system with the need for a hard reboot.

Here is my system: CPU: i5 2500k CPU Cooling: Coolermaster Hyper 212+ with push/pull MB: MSI Z68A-GD55 (B3) Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 with XMP enabled HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB ASUS DRW-24B1ST GPU: GIGABYTE GV-R695OC-1GD Radeon HD 6950 1GB PSU: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 Case: LIAN LI Lancool First Knight Series PC-K59W with two Yates Loon 140mm medium top exhaust fans This is the system I posted on about a month ago for my first time build. It seems to be running great except when I play games, the entire system freezes. It will freeze at various times and with various games (DA:Origin, BF3, BF p4f) with no mouse movement. The only way to resolve is through a hard reboot. Ran Memtest and Prime for 20+ hours apiece and no errors. I have tried to update all of the drivers (having issues with the Live Update 5 from MSI). Minus the MSI stuff, I seem to be up to date. I have tried to manually update the audio driver for the Realtek HD Audio that is built into the board but I cannot seem to accomplish this. I am not even sure if this is the problem. Frustrated because I cannot use the build to play and need some direction. Thanks in advance.

    Bios error beep codes

This very similar to the issues I was having with the set up I built a few weeks ago (if you recall?) and the mobo is the same. It changed depending on the various things hooked up and I was advised to just build it outside of the case to see if all of the components worked together correctly. One person on the Steam forum replied that they had an MSI mobo and it did severs beeps at POST since he built with it. My board makes one long and two short at POST (usually a video problem) and more short beeps the more peripherals I have hooked up (1long and 4short with ps2 mouse and usb keyboard hooked up). The MSI forum said that they thought this was what the beeps sounded like to them, usb attachments. As of now (I still have several days left to RMA to Newegg if necessary), the build is running great and playing BF3 beta and DA Origins on high resolutions. Does this sound similar? Mine went through various stages of beeps too.

How did you come up with your username?

When my wife was pregnant, she said it just looked like she had been eating alot of cheeseburgers, so I started calling the baby (as yet unnamed) baby cheesebuger. Changed it to my handle with my name replacing the cheese when the baby was actually born and my wife said I could no longer call my new daughter cheesebuger because it would give her a complex! Just thought the name too good to evaporate!
