Yeah, when I first started I was pretty nervous too, but now it's harder for me to be a passenger...there's probably a footprint where the pedals should be for the passenger side of most cars

Here's a recent one I heard
I was talking to a guy about internet and I said that my house is about 3 miles from the CO but it will be fast anyway because it comes out to my area by fiber instead of copper.
noob: Fiber?
me: Uhh...signal is transmitted by light, instead of electricity I try to keep my explanations simple and short...but it doesnt always work...as can be seen by his response:
noob: So it doesnt work at night?
...yeah...he was dead serious too...

My brother is coming over this next week from oregon and he's thinking about buying BF2, well he doesnt have internet so I'll be letting him try singleplayer on mine to see if it's worth it, he has a GFX5200 Golden Sample, which would barely run BF2, so I've also recommended a video card for him. I'm also gonna have him try to COD2 demo, because I feel like I'll be able to buy COD2 for $30 next week and it also seems like BF2 will be $30...hmm....
I have a feeling that bestbuy will have an ATI Radeon X700 Pro 256MB GDDR3 AGP Graphics Card for $100 After ($100) rebate next week. It's $185 on Newegg...hmmm...
A 128mb 6600gt is $140 at newegg minimum
A 128mb 9800pro is $107 at newegg minimum.
Any owners of the x700pro? Battlefield 2 performance? COD2 Performance?
I'm debating between ordering him a video card + buying BF2 in town and being able to LAN with him or buying the video card and games locally when they are on sale. The latter looks good because we can always go oldschool and play Desert Combat and go surfing/mountain biking.
Any opinions/complaints about the green tea that you spit all over your monitor when you saw the price of the x700pro?

Hey I MIGHT be willing to take that thing off your hands...depends on if I can find a keyboard that can register 7+ keys pressed at once.

And the noob list grows......
So I moved this last week and set up my computer, just bare peripherals, and it booted up fast like it should have...I was thinking it had something to do with power and thought that was bizzaire...
Well I set the computer up the rest of the way, I had forgotten to plug in my USB Memory card reader, so I plugged that in, along with other stuff...and it was doing the slow boot again....hmm...so I unplug the usb card reader...OF ALL THINGS, it was a stinkin peripheral! I didnt notice it before in my troubleshooting because I plug it in into a port that's out of the way...
I RMA'd my Kingston RAM and my Asus motherboard trying to fix this...and it was a Biostar Catcher thing...so I'm gonna take it out and see if it messes up my AMD system, if it does, I'll be in the market for a new memory card reader.

I think a "right wing" news service would be nice, problem is, it isnt on the top 50 for DishNetwork
From what I have seen at other homes though, it's mostly talk and such filled with sarcasm, I always miss the news segments.
Google news and forums will have to suit me...then again, I just found out about what's going on in france today.

...
I figured out what the problem was, there was an issue with her norton systemworks that was preventing anything from working, it took a bunch of shotgun restarts with various startup services disabled from msconfig/safe mode to figure it out.
I suspected it was something to do with system idle process because that was the only thing "taking" cpu, and NOTHING would open fast.
I know the name suggests the obvious, but I have been trained to think outside the obvious by cisco. (for example: "no shutdown" to turn an interface on)
-
What does System Idle Process Do? what is its purpose? I open task manager on a computer i'm trying to fix without loss of data and such, and it takes a few minutes, then opens, shows system idle process taking 99% of CPU.
Is there a purpose? Is there a way to make it stop? (There are also mystery programs that look like spyware and virii, is it trying to prevent those from working or something?)

Las Vegas Mayor Suggests cutting thumbs off of those caught tagging freeways...on tv...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051105/ap_on_...HNlYwN5bmNhdA--
Sat Nov 5,11:19 AM ETRENO, Nev. - Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman has suggested that those who deface freeways with graffiti should have their thumbs cut off on television.
Goodman, appearing Wednesday on the "Nevada Newsmakers" television show, said, "In the old days in France, they had beheading of people who commit heinous crimes.
"You know, we have a beautiful highway landscaping redevelopment in our downtown. We have desert tortoises and beautiful paintings of flora and fauna. These punks come along and deface it.
"I'm saying maybe you put them on TV and cut off a thumb," the mayor added. "That may be the right thing to do."
Goodman also suggested that whippings or canings should be brought back for children who get into trouble.
"I also believe in a little bit of corporal punishment going back to the days of yore, where examples have to be shown," Goodman said.
"I'm dead serious," said Goodman, adding, "Some of these (children) don't learn. You have got to teach them a lesson, and this is coming from a criminal defense lawyer."
"They would get a trial first," he added.
Another panelist on the show, Howard Rosenberg, a state university system regent, responded by saying that cutting off the thumbs of taggers won't solve the problem and Goodman should "use his head for something other than a hat rack."
If only...
There would still be a gang problem I'm sure. The "Southside Stubs" and the "Western Mittens"

I'm not a fan of "cheap" new cars, my $1100 volvo feels more solid than any $12k new car i've ever seen...
But if you're stuck on new cars, check out Nissan, my friend has a Sentra, and it's about the nicest new "budget" car i've ever seen, feels very solid, and manufacturer claims 38mpg highway

One customer bought 2 or 3 sticks of RAM online, called me because they kept sending wrong part, I investigate, he thought it was the wrong part because he thought the ISA slots were for the memory.
good thing he didnt try fitting it...
Mine:
--Beef soup on keyboard...and I still eat soup at my computer
and of course
--Finger in CPU fan

I was probably playing BF2 during my school's homecoming

He was referring to the episode of Family Guy where Mel Gibson walks off Mt. Rushmore and Peter mentions something about Christians not believing in gravity.Great commentary btw. It was absolutely hilarious. It's also great how well you're taking it, unlike some other members that would have destroyed their bike, the curb, the dog, whatever.....
I'm sure I did a good amount of damage to the curb considering the gash it put in my pedal too.
The experiment was performed today at about 12:30 or so on my way home from school, pretty close to the hospital. Yeah, I can have some fun with these scratches on my face...
"yeah I got jumped by some guys that wanted to mug me, I had to drag them to the hospital too"
Jessica says:where did you draw blood?

Jessica says:ouch! on your nose?
