  1. The 80mm Tornados move 80CFM, however the 92mm Tornados move 120 CFM, and I happen to have one I am not using, and I would be willing to donate it for this endeavour.

The Tornados weigh in at 55 decibels, I can't imagine having more than one in a case, even one is deafening.

Thanks for the offer man but unless your just dying to get rid of it im fine using 80cfm, that will dry them out fast enough.

Used to have 5 in a case LOL.

Looks interesting so far. As for hot air just get the little woman standing in front of it giving you crap for coming in late

Yeah... i ran two. They kept an open sided beige monster cooler than my new 6 fan thermaltake armour revo gene case(unfortunatley the thing wont fit any fan smaller than 120).

Not as much fun, and cost 2 or 3 times as much. I will probably end up spending maybe 15 bucks on this. Those are 50+

    Tornados last forever :)

Double ball bearing, I have an 80mm and a 92mm from like 03 that still work flawlessly with no shaft play. The 80mm is the most annoying high pitched hair dryer whine ever though

They do, and that's good as i will be using them allot. Well death wanted me to use a hairdryer didn't he?

Find yourself an old CPU and use a stock cooler on it then set it to folding. That way you dry boots and get folding points at the same time. There is your heat source...

Nice idea, but slightly impracticable in my situation. I'm looking for something low power, already having to cut back my folding because of heat and power.  I did however look aat taking some dryer vent and making a modular air intake from the back of my main rig.

  2. Looks very interesting!  I hope those fans are strong enough to move all that air.

Also, you may want to consider inverting that whole setup.  The warm/moist air will want to rise out of the boots, so the ankles of the boots should be pointed upwards.  Just my two cents.

Can they move it? Lol yes. 80 CFM, hence 'tornados'.

Good point, but i think that:

1 the air pressure will force it out, and

2 i plan to figure out a heat element so the air going in will be warmer than the air going out.

  3. A blow dryer works awesome too.

Too hot. I shrunk the lining on my last boots.

So i worked late and did not get to lowes and am now drawing some paint schematics. Mainly because i can.... it shouldn't be too complicated. Will upload after i eat.

Suggestions: Should i use 45 degree or 90 degree joints at the top, i'm thinking from the angle of preserving the shape of the boot(mainly western style pullons with a few shorter leg lace-ups)?

  4. So i was puzzling over the outdoor laborer's chronic problem of wet boots, and the miser's instinct, and saw my stack of recently retired vantec tornadoes... and started thinking.... 80CFM .... 1/2" pvc....

So i spent the evening rigging up a voltage adjustable control for a vantec tornado. Works like dream. 12v for the speedy clean, 9v for a medium and 6v for easy over.

So watch this space for a slightly unorthodox computer[part] mod.

Off to lowes tomorrow after work for pvc. Will post pics as i go.

  5. SOLD

    Hey Guys,

I want to get rid of this but don't have a paypal at the moment so i thought i'd see if anyone would consider a trade.

As the title states i have a brand new sealed in box Thermaltake Level 10 Mouse. It case your dubious on the NIB, it is because i received this mouse in error from Thermaltake after the Christmas Contest here and they graciously allowed me to keep it.

    9f3d78da-a1ad-4da8-b0b6-101b3883948e_zps

I know how much this mouse is worth(MSRP $96) but due to its having been free i will take anything in the ballpark(either direction  )

Things i would be interested in trading for:

    Computer Gear:

    • Used mechanical keyboard, just so long as it works. I have always wanted to try one of these.
    • Any GPU newer than the GTS 250 i currently run.
    • Headset, my senhiisers only have one earcup left...
    • All-in-one water cooling unit.

    Misc:

    • Kindle, any version.
    • Unlocked Android phone(must take a sim card)
    • MP3 player(not apple)
    • Nikon Speedlite
    • Quality Camera Tripod
    • Car radio

Got something you might like to trade but its not on either list? PM me i might be interested, that list is just what i can come up with off the top of my head.

CONUS only. I will ship UPS asap and send a tracking number.

    SOLD

  6. +1 for the non-conformists and the fb free life. Never had a fb account and hope to never had one, though it is very attractive for keeping up with friends heading off into the wide world.

@OP I agree completely. But i just have to jump up on my soapbox for a second in regards the topic you used as an example.

It strikes me as ridiculously ironic that gays want the right to marry. Now i understand wanting the benefits(tax wise and such), and sure, go ahead give it to them, its a self eradicating gene i figure(so long as we don't let them adopt).

But if the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman why should gays care whether they can marry? Its like saying i am a metalhead but i want to like rap so i re-define rap as metal..... if you are gay you don't want to be legally bound to a member of the other sex so why do you want the term that means 'to bound to a member of the other sex' to apply to you? Maybe its just me but it seems like an awful dumb way to go about feeling accepted and all that.

  7. Go in to the config panel and, if i remember correctly go into advanced(or is it expert, one of the two) and you will be able to select how many cores to allow the program to access.

I am still using v6 as i had nothing with problems with v7.

  8. Rig went down for a while yesterday, one of my gts250s finally gave in after 2 years of folding. Had to switch them around and plug my monitors into it and let the other fold. It works fine for regular usage but if i load it it crashes.

Woot Bing Rewards, just got enough points for $5 more added to my Amazon account!!!!

For such a penny pincher that I am...I really need to start using BingCashBack lol

Me too. But its sooo darn slow. 15 or 16 points a day seems to be all i can get.

Dunno if this works, but I'll just remind you that there are firefox scripts to reload pages and perform searches for you. Also, greasemonkey is highly customizeable. There are also scripts to mask your IP and whatnot to make it seem like the searches are coming from different computers under the same Bing account.

Yeah but you can only earn 15 points a day for searching period i tried using different computers.
